Harry Kane enjoyed his best FIFA World Cup campaign to date in 2026. The Bayern Munich striker equalled his tally from Russia 2018 with six goals, driving England to a third-placed finish.
Even though his efforts were not enough to bring the elusive trophy home, there seemed to be little more that Kane could have done to further the cause. The same lack of regrets was reflected in his choice to party soon after the heartbreak against Argentina in the semi-final.
While his dreams on the field could not be realized, Kane definitely managed to strike a major item from his bucket list off the field. And to think it all happened in a quiet and relatively unglamorous surroundings of a night club in the Big Apple.
In the hours following the final at MetLife stadium where Spain lifted the title, Kane was spotted grooving alongside Burna Boy in New York. The unexpected collaboration attracted a lot of buzz.

The duo were seen vibing along to the latter’s popular hit ‘Big 7’ from Burna Boy’s seventh album ‘I Told Them’, where the latter pays homage to his African roots and boasts the success he has managed to garner.
Kane was dressed in a simple black t-shirt and pants while Burna was donning his iconic white vest complete with chains around his neck, a big pair of black sunglasses, and his braids running amok. The striker’s dance steps were not the most elegant or rhythmic as it more looked like an attempt to enact the song’s lyrics, but there could be little doubt after watching the video that Kane was having the time of his life.
Burna Boy is a Grammy winner from Nigeria whose music is best described as afro-fusion, mixing afrobeats with reggae, hip-hop, and other contemporary music styles. In fact, the global star’s songs most often carry a blend of Yoruba and Nigerian Pidgin along with English to give an even more distinct African twinge to his artistry.
However, there seemed to be little dissonance as far as Kane was concerned. Afterall, the 33-year-old has openly declared his appreciation for Burna Boy multiple times in the past, citing it as a dream to attend the Nigerian’s concert.
During his Tottenham days, Kane was even captured on video singing his ‘Last Last’ song along with then-teammate Yves Bissouma.
But as with anything the Englishman does, controversy seems to inevitably follow. Similarly, the internet did not take long to contrast his latest shenanigans with some comments he had made during the World Cup.
Apart from the final two knockout stages against Norway and La Albiceleste, the only game Kane failed to find the net in in America was against Ghana at Boston Stadium.
Coming fresh off a 4-2 win over Croatia in the opener, Kane and co had been locked up brilliantly by the African outfit in a drab 0-0 draw. England had 19 shots on goal but only four were on target, despite dominating 78% of the possession.
In the aftermath, Kane could not help but call out the dull tactics his opponents used to eke out a point. Safe to say, he did not frame it in the best way possible.
“When you play these types of nations, they do everything to slow the game down and get fouls and waste time…You can’t fault them for it, it’s just where they’re at in terms of quality but they got a point and credit to them,” Kane said after the game.
Unsurprisingly, the furor was immediate for Kane’s phrase of choice for describing Ghana. Grouping them into a bracket as ‘these types of nations’ came off as derogatory and in the heated political environment the World Cup was played in, interpretations quickly devolved further.
Even though Kane blatantly meant teams that park the bus, it did not take time for the internet to allege whether there was a racist bent to Kane’s remarks.
However, given Kane’s track record, such interpretations were quickly rubbished and discarded.
Apart from his appreciation for African music, Kane for years has been a strong advocate against racism. He came to the fore of his English teammates after they received racist chants for losing the Euro 2020 final and has also spoken up against other such incidents that have occurred in the football landscape.
Now in the prime of his career and a leading candidate for this year’s Ballon D’Or with over 70 goals for club and country the past season, Kane has every right to celebrate the way he wants. And as far as partying is concerned, there are barely many things in the world betetr than a night out with Burna Boy himself.
