Forget It? Not Arsenal: Gunners Defy Mourinho’s Warning in Endrick Chase

Arsenal, Endrick

On Saturday, news came from London and Madrid that Arsenal has contacted Endrick‘s representatives for the January transfer window. Due to star player Bukayo Saka‘s injury and doubts over Viktor Gyokeres, manager Mikel Arteta wants to boost his team’s attacking strength.

According to Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk, “Arsenal have maintained contact with Endrick as the Brazilian’s representatives explore the possibility of a January move away from Real Madrid, despite the Spanish giants insisting they want to keep hold of the forward, @TEAMtalk understands.”

When Endrick didn’t get even a minute to play against Barcelona in El Clasico, his agency Roc Nation started exploring January options. His agent Michael Yormack says Endrick likes Madrid, but a footballer’s career is short, and he needs regular playing time.

Arsenal likes Endrick’s ability to play both as a centre-forward and right-winger. But there’s an issue in the deal: Arsenal wants a loan with an option to buy, while Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho want to keep him in the team or send him only on a straight loan.

Manager Mourinho has clearly said that other clubs should forget about him, and they will have a serious fight over Endrick.

“Forget it, forget it,” Mourinho said. “Forget any interested clubs. They had better sit down, otherwise they will get tired waiting. He is a player I love, with incredible potential. He is very important to us. Anyone interested in him will have a serious fight on their hands with me.”

Endrick was signed by Real Madrid from Palmeiras for €70m (£60m) in July 2024, and his contract runs until June 2030.

Last season, Endrick was on a 6-month loan at Lyon, where he had 12 goal contributions (8 goals, 8 assists), but at Real Madrid, he has had to sit on the bench under manager Mourinho. He has been placed behind Yan Diomande, Carlos Espi, and Vinicius Junior.

Because of this, AC Milan, AS Roma, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also keeping an eye on Endrick’s situation.

At Real Madrid, he became the youngest foreign La Liga goalscorer (18 years, 35 days) and the youngest Champions League scorer against VfB Stuttgart.

In the 2025 Copa del Rey, Endrick scored 5 goals, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2012–13 record. He made his Brazil national team debut in 2023, becoming the youngest call-up after Ronaldo (1994).

Endrick said that “I take it day by day. If I have to leave in January, I’ll leave; if I have to stay, I’ll stay.”

Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez is supporting Endrick, and in the coming weeks it will be decided whether he stays in Madrid or moves to London or Serie A.
