Everton have snapped up Jack Grealish on loan. The £6.5m midfielder was never a good choice in our FPL teams ever since his move from Aston Villa to Manchester City. He would struggle playing under Pep Guardiola’s system, being pushed out onto the wing rather than his best position at the number 10 role. With the World Cup next summer, he will have to pull out his old Villa performances if he wants the call from Thomas Tuchel.
At Villa, Grealish was the main man, the creative hub, the player with the freedom to roam and dictate play. It is this role, which was often curtailed at City, that he is likely to reprise at Everton.

He will be the one taking on defenders, drawing fouls, and providing the key passes for his new teammates. Expect him to be heavily involved in almost every Everton attack.

The issue is the consistency and whether Jack can bring back his old form. While the move is intended to reignite his career, it’s not a guarantee that he’ll immediately recapture his Aston Villa form. There could be a period of adjustment.
This could be a wait and watch scenario, there are several good options for that price point, one even being his teammate Iliman Ndiaye who has become a template pick. We need to see how David Moyes sets Jack up and who takes up set piece duties as well. It might not be a good idea to bring him just yet, if he does pick up form he could become a solid option for our FPL teams.
