English attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze, born on June 29, 1998, in Greenwich, is one of the best players in the English club Crystal Palace’s squad. He has been instrumental in the team’s success over the past four seasons, and thanks to him, many victories have been achieved, including last season’s FA Cup final, where he scored the only goal of the match, which would give his team its first major trophy. Due to his great season, many teams were after him to sign him, and it seems that Arsenal FC is the one who wins the race.
Arsenal could be a very good destination for Eze, as both teams’ playing styles are similar, and Arsenal FC’s squad is actually better, so Eze will have much more help than at Crystal Palace. The difference is that at Crystal Palace, he was practically the team’s star, while with the Gunners, this won’t be so similar, so he’ll have to earn a place in the first team. But for someone of his caliber, this won’t be so complicated.
Although the team hasn’t officially announced Eze’s arrival, many already assume the deal is complete. As per reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, the verbal agreement is currently being finalized and that the transfer will be worth 60 million pounds.
Even Oliver Glasner, current Crystal Palace manager, has already said goodbye to Eze, wishing him luck with his new team and saying he will no longer play for Crystal Palace. We can see this in the following tweet.
But the main point of all this is that Eze wasn’t originally planning on returning to Arsenal FC. There were plans from the beginning for the midfielder to move to Tottenham Hotspur, and it was Arsenal who practically stole Eze from them. Tottenham Hotspur is furious about this because Eze had already spoken to them.
According to some reports, which could be disproven, there was already a full agreement between the two parties, a presentation video was planned for Eze, and even the Spurs players knew he was coming, and many were already excited about his arrival.
If the transfer goes through as agreed, Eze would statistically become Arsenal‘s third-most expensive signing in its history as an institution. In the following tweet we can see that, if the deal is finalized for 67.5 million pounds, he would only be surpassed by Declan Rice who was bought for 105 million pounds and Nicolas Pepe who was bought for 72 million pounds.
Arsenal FC and English football fans are paying close attention to this and have already started posting memes about it, mocking how the Gunners snatched Eze from Tottenham Hotspur.

It is definitely a strong blow for Tottenham and a massive coup for Arsenal, so the reactions make a lot of sense.
