Twitter Reacts as FPL World Number 1 Makes Highly Unusual Transfer Moves

Fantasy Premier League

We have spoken about the world number 1 in FPL before. (read about it here) He was the number 1 player in FPL, despite making 0 transfers the whole season and permanently captaining Erling Haaland apart from when he decided to triple captain Joao Pedro for his monster haul against West Ham. The manager in question is Marc Nizinskyj from England and his team is called The new Pep.

This was the world number 1’s team before the Gameweek 7 deadline. The current number one FPL team featured a surprisingly consistent defense, including Raya in goal (representing the league’s best defense), a double up on Spurs defense despite last season’s struggles, Gabriel (completing an Arsenal double), and Guehi.

The midfield is notable for its reliance on three defensive midfielders: Stach (Leeds), Rice, and Caicedo, alongside the FPL king Mohamed Salah. Rice and Caicedo were a bit of unorthodox picks, with Caicedo known for bonus points and Rice taking Arsenal’s corners, not being the heavy FPL hitters.

Up front, the manager has Erling Haaland (captain in every Gameweek but one) and João Pedro. In a move of either incredible luck or a time traveler, Joao Pedro was triple captained for his 15 point return.

We can safely put the time traveler theories to bed as after 6 Gameweeks of FPL, they decided to make transfers and let’s say they are a bit shocking.

He made 7 transfers and took a -8 hit to bring in- Pond, Kroupi Jr, Zubimendi, Gakpo, Jadon Anthony, Reijnders and Ekitike. They also decided to activate the bench boost.

They certainly are not a time traveller as they did not bring Semenyo in for his 18 point monster haul. the bench boost is also a major talking point. Gunn will not start over Sels, Pond played for the Wolves Academy today against the Leicester City academy so he will not feature either and Kroupi Jr played 0 minutes against Fulham last night.

They have also gone for Ekitike and Gakpo whose minutes are certainly a doubt and Liverpool have hit a bad run of form in recent weeks. Zubimendi as well another a defensive midfielder who is not a regular points scorer. They have certainly lost the world number 1 spot as many top managers have Semenyo, their current rank is still 48 in the world with 477 points.

Was his earlier strategy pure fluke as it stands their transfers seem very odd and out of place. This also validates the fact that FPL is a long haul game and you do require planning, strategy, correct captaincy and chip usage to master the game.
