Look: Takefusa Kubo Steps Out in Mythology-Inspired Adidas Boots

La Liga is one of those leagues in which every team has that one player who will always be associated with the club, no matter what. For Real Betis, it is Antony, for Atletico Madrid it’s Antoine Griezmann, and for Real Sociedad it is Takefusa Kubo.

The ex-La Masia winger first came into the news for his performances in his first season with Real Sociedad in 2022-23, where he scored 9 goals and delivered 9 assists across all competitions to ensure a top-4 finish for the club.

Since then, he has become a mainstay at the club and continues to be one of the pillars of the team going forward. The winger has once again been crucial for his team’s performances and has delivered 2 goals and 4 assists for his team this season.

However, the winger was in the headlines for a different reason in his recent appearance against Alaves in LaLiga. The boots that he was sporting.

The boots are a part of the 2026 Adidas Y-3 F50 Tunit Beast Pack that features stunning artwork inspired by Japanese Mythology.

The boots were originally released in 2006 in anticipation of the buildup to the World Cup. The release was a collaboration between Adidas and Japanese Designer Yohji Yamamoto. The designs for the boots were meant to have the 4 creatures embalzoned across them- a blue dragon, a yellow tiger, a red eagle and a silver wolf.

The boots sported by Kubo are part of the re-release that Adidas did at the end of March in collaboration with their lifestyle brand Y-3. The boots, however, this time do have a walkable outsole unit that has been updated for the modern day, enabling them to be used as more of a streetwear option. However, for the ones that want to wear the beauties to the pitch, the wolf ones are still designed to be worn as a football boot, just like Kubo.

Takefusa Kubo wasn’t the only one who was seen with the boots, as Turkish winger Kenan Yildiz was also seen with the boots attached to his kit bag during the international break in March.

The boots, when launched initially, became a hit among collectors everywhere. For those of you who missed out on that chance and want the opportunity, the boots will be going on retail for $330 on the official Adidas Website.

The collaboration doesn’t just end in football, as Adidas also extended the collaboration to the F1 team Mercedes-AMG as well who shared photos of the collaboration on their Insta handle.

The aesthetics of these boots are clearly unmatched, and fans, players, and collectors must all be absolutely relishing the fact that they will be getting a chance to rep these rare pieces. With the world cup drawing closer, the excitement for such pieces and who will wear them will only keep increasing. We definitely look forward to it.
