Bruno Guimaraes Shocks Newcastle Fans By Shaving Off Iconic Goatee At Brazil Camp

Footballers are not only known for their playstyle but their appearance also makes a huge part of their identity. 

But how would people react if a player decided to get rid of the very thing that makes them familiar? 

Bruno Guimares has hit the headlines after getting rid of his goatee, and fans could not have reacted more hilariously.

The Newcastle captain recently appeared clean-shaven during his recent appearance at the Brazil training center in Teresopolis, outside Rio de Janeiro.

And, safe to say, the new look sent fans into a turmoil. 

What makes the situation ironic is how Bruno’s beard has effectively grown alongside his career in football.

In his early days at Audax and Athletic Paranaense, Bruno often appeared with light to no facial hair. Even after his move to Lyon in 2020, the Brazilian continued to evolve himself with his goatee.

By the time he arrived at the Premier League in 2022, the goatee had become a permanent fixture.

On 16 march of 2025, Bruno became the first Newcastle captain to lift a domestic trophy in a staggering 70 years, or any trophy in a long 56 years, winning the Carabao Cup in a final against Liverpool.

But he has made the headlines for a different reason lately.

Bruno has maintained a goatee look throughout the years and fans have been used to seeing him this way.

But recently, Bruno decided to get rid of the goatee, and fans reactions could not have been more funnier.

In a comedic turn, a fan commented how the look gave off a “babies seeing their dad for the first time without a beard” feel to the fans and they cannot get over it and how he looks like a monk now. 

Fans can only hope that Bruno continues to perform for Brazil and Newcastle, even without a goatee.
