Michael Olise has enjoyed a summer unlike any other.
Fresh off a record-breaking FIFA World Cup with France, where he registered seven assists to set a new tournament record, the Bayern Munich star has spent the past few weeks away from football enjoying a well-earned holiday before returning for the new season.
Like most footballers, Olise has documented parts of his vacation on social media. Unlike most footballers, however, every clip somehow managed to become internet discourse.
Between yacht parties in Turkey, viral memes surrounding his famously expressionless personality and endless fan edits, the Frenchman has arguably spent more time on football’s social media ecosystem.
As the clips continued to pile up, fans also began noticing one recurring presence.
Terio.
The upcoming British rapper, known online as @whois.terio, has become a familiar face alongside Olise over the last few months. The pair have frequently been spotted together, with Olise publicly supporting his music, attending events and appearing throughout his creative circle.
By all accounts, they are simply close friends.
Unfortunately, that has somehow been enough to make Terio one of the wider football audience’s least favourite people.
The criticism reached another level after Olise’s eventful summer.
The Bayern winger found himself dominating headlines following his viral yacht videos, which completely shattered the internet’s long-running “Mr. Nonchalant” image. At the same time, he was also dealing with intense public scrutiny surrounding his personal life.
As fans dissected every holiday clip frame by frame, Terio just kept appearing in the background.
Some fans have jokingly claimed Terio is enjoying a luxury lifestyle thanks to his friendship with Olise. Others have poked fun at the jewellery, the private jet trips and the rapper’s growing music career, creating countless memes suggesting he is permanently attached to the Bayern star.
None of these theories have much evidence behind them, but that has done little to slow the football community on X down. Before long, even Terio’s music had become fair game, with fans taking aim at his tracks almost as often as his friendship with Olise. Olise posting one of Terio’s songs on his Instagram Story only added to the ridicule, with many fans wondering why he was promoting the rapper’s music at all.
Replies underneath his songs have quickly filled with football fans who have never previously listened to his work, with many dismissing it before the first verse even begins. Others have turned every appearance into another opportunity for memes rather than discussing the music itself.
Perhaps the funniest moment came when Terio decided to go live on Instagram.
The timing could hardly have been worse.
With Olise already dominating social media for entirely different reasons, fans immediately flooded the comments wondering why he had chosen that exact moment to broadcast himself.
At this point, Terio has somehow become the bigger talking point. Every new Olise clip immediately turns into another investigation about his “best friend”, with fans on X convinced the rapper is single-handedly dismantling the Frenchman’s legendary nonchalant image one holiday at a time.
To much of the wider football community , Terio has become less of an artist and more of source of endless banter. His music is routinely mocked, his presence questioned, and countless posts paint him as someone who contributes little beyond tagging along with one of football’s biggest stars, living off the attention that comes with being Michael Olise’s closest companion.
Meanwhile, Olise will be hoping attention soon returns to football. The 24-year-old is expected to rejoin Bayern Munich ahead of the new campaign, with Vincent Kompany’s side preparing for another season in which the Frenchman will once again be central to their attack. A blockbuster meeting with Real Madrid is already on the horizon, and Bayern fans will be hoping the biggest talking point is once again his football rather than whoever happens to be standing next to him.
