Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has sparked dating rumors after appearing to connect with Love Island star Joanna Chimonides on Instagram.
The speculation began after the 29-year-old footballer followed Chimonides on Instagram, with the reality star subsequently following him back. Neither Dias nor Chimonides has confirmed that they are dating, but the mutual follow has been enough to get fans and media outlets talking.
Chimonides is a British reality TV personality, social media influencer and digital presenter who became widely known after appearing as a bombshell during the Casa Amor twist on Love Island Season 5 in 2019. She later returned to the franchise for Love Island: All Stars in 2024. Born in London in 1996, she studied psychology at the University of Leicester before working in recruitment and later moving into television and social media.
She was also previously in a high-profile relationship with former Chelsea and England defender Ben Chilwell.
The latest speculation has also led to jokes among football and Love Island fans about Dias’ apparent history of being linked with women associated with the ITV2 show.
Dias previously dated Love Island star Arabella Chi, with their relationship reportedly running from 2023 into 2024.
The Portuguese defender was then linked with television presenter and former Love Island host Maya Jama, with reports stating that the pair were together for around 18 months before mutually ending their relationship.
That history has made the latest rumours involving Chimonides particularly noticeable. Some fans have jokingly suggested that Dias appears to have a preference for women connected to Love Island.

However, there is currently very little evidence beyond the Instagram interaction. A follow and follow-back do not confirm a romantic relationship, and neither Dias nor Chimonides has publicly said that they are together.
For now, the Joanna Chimonides rumors remain exactly just a rumor. Until either of them addresses the speculation or more believable news emerges, there is no confirmation that the Manchester City defender and the Love Island star are dating.
