Newcastle United have had a slow start to the Premier League season, with just three wins in eight league matches, but in the last matchweek they beat Crystal Palace to bounce back from back-to-back defeats, with goals from William Osula and Harvey Barnes.
Everton are in a similar boat as Newcastle United, having registered just two wins in eight Premier League matches, and they have lost the last two league matches to Chelsea and Arsenal respectively, and will want to get back to winning ways.
Recently, Everton and Newcastle United locked horns in the EFL Cup, and the Toffees came out victorious with a 3-1 trashing of the Magpies, with goals from James Garner, Hayden Hackney, and Thierno Barry, while Dan Burn scored a consolation goal in the dying moments of the match.
Last 5 Games
Newcastle United started the season strongly, with a 2-2 draw against Liverpool and then a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, but they have also suffered some defeats already in the campaign, most notably their 4-1 losses to Leeds United and newly promoted side Coventry City. In the last five Premier League fixtures, the Magpies have secured only two victories against Hull City and Crystal Palace. Manager Matthias Jaissle will need to turn things around if Newcastle United want to climb up the Premier League table and challenge for a spot in Europe next season.
Meanwhile, Everton started the campaign with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, but then they went on a run of three games without a win, managing draws against Bournemouth, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. In the last five Premier League games, the Toffees have secured only one win, which came against Ipswich Town, and they have suffered two losses and secured a draw. Boss David Moyes will need to guide his team back to consistent wins and turn draws into victories to climb the Premier League ladder.

Team News
Newcastle United lost forward William Osula early into the season; he returned from injury and contributed in recent matches, but during the EFL Cup tie against Everton he was substituted after he twisted his ankle and now remains a serious doubt for the return fixture against the Toffees.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Lewis Miley, who have not featured in the last two fixtures, could return to the matchday squad, while Anthong Elanga, who has returned from a hamstring injury and came off the bench in the last two games, will be gunning to make the starting eleven.
At Everton, Hayden Hackney got his first goal and assist for the club, and he will want to retain his place in the starting eleven after being in and out of the team since August.
Besides that, defender Jarrad Branthwaite could come in to replace Jake O’Brien in the backline, after he was sidelined in the last two fixtures due to concussion protocols.
Possible Lineups
Tottenham Hotspur:
Lukas Hornicek, Amar Dedic, Fabian Schaer, Dan Burn, Lewis Hall, Nico Gonzalez, Joelinton, Anthony Elanga, Joseph Willock, Harvey Barnes, and Yoane Wissa.
Everton:
Jordan Pickford, Merlin Rohl, James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite, Vitalii Mykolenko, James Garner, Harrison Armstrong, Tyrique George, Keiman Dewsbury-Hall, Brenna Johnson, and Thierno Barry.
Head-to-Head
Newcastle United and Everton have crossed paths over a long period in the history, as both clubs have established themselves as some of the most consistent teams in the Premier League, and they have faced each other 198 times in all competitions over the years. The Toffees have the edge with 78 wins, while the Magpies have secured 72 victories, and 39 matches ended in a draw between both the sides.

Recently, Everton have defeated Newcastle United in the EFL with a 3-1 win, and last season in the Premier League, during their last encounter, the Toffees secured a 3-2 victory over the Magpies in an end-to-end game, in which Jarrad Branthwaite, Beto, and Thierno Barry scored for the Merseyside outfit, while Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy found the back of the net for the Toon.
Where Will The Game Be Decided?
Thierno Barry has been the most consistent goalscorer for Everton this term, and in his last five games across the Premier League and EFL Cup, he has scored three goals and provided an assist in the process. He will play an important role in adding more firepower to the attack, along with Keinan Drews-Burry Hall, Brennan Johnson, and Tyquire George. In the defence, the return of Jarrad Branthwaite will provide a big boost, and the ever-reliable England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will be counted on to once again protect the goal.
For Newcastle United, Harvey Barnes and Anthony Elanga could become a source of goals due to their speed and knack for scoring in crucial games. Moreover, Joelinton, Nico Gonzalez and Joseph Willock could also pop up in the right position at the edge of the box to find the back of the net. Manager Jaissle will want to improve his defence, as the back line has not exactly been watertight, having conceded 14 goals in eight Premier League matches, and has a worse goal difference than Everton.
Prediction
Newcastle United are yet to find consistency in winning matches comfortably in the Premier League this season. But the Magpies will want to get their revenge after being knocked out of the EFL Cup, and will have the perfect opportunity to do it at St. James Park. At home, they have only secured one win, while drawing two matches, and lost their last game against Aston Villa.
Everton have shown a fighting spirit in all their matches so far this season, but they have found it difficult to turn draws into wins in several close games in the Premier League. The Toffees are yet to win on the road, as in four games, they have registered three wins and one loss.
Now, Everton defeated Newcastle United in the EFL Cup, but on the road they have not been able to kill off games to get the victory, and the Magpies have been decent on their home turf and will be gunning to take revenge; in that scenario, the match could end in a draw.
Our prediction: Newcastle United 2-2 Everton
Odds
Newcastle United win: 27/20
Draw: 13/5
Everton win: 11/5
The odds indicated that Newcastle United can avenge their EFL Cup elimination at the hands of Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Magpies are given an implied probability of between 38% and 46% of securing a win at St. James’ Park. In the event someone makes a £10 bet on Newcastle United to win, and they do secure a victory, they would get a return of approximately £13.50. On the other hand, a bet on Everton to win, and if the Toffees picked up all three points, someone could get around £20 for a £10 wager.
Kickoff Time
Newcastle v Everton kicks off at 8 PM GMT at St. James’ Park. John Brooks is the appointed on-field match official, and Paul Howard will be on VAR duty.
