Liverpool were stunned by Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League, as former Reds legend Dirk Kuyt managed to secure a narrow win for the Turkish outfit and hand the Merseyside outfit their first defeat in Europe this season.
During the summer transfer window, Liverpool lost Andrew Robertson to Tottenham Hotspur and Ibrahima Konate went to Spanish giants Real Madrid, which left a void in their backline.
To provide more options to manager Andoni Iraola and strengthen their defence, the Reds signed Jeremy Jacquet from French club Stade de Rennes and brought in Ronald Araujo from Barcelona on a season-long loan deal.
Jeremy Jacquet has looked solid alongside Virgil van Dijk, while Ronald Araujo has provided cover in the centre-back and right-back positions at Liverpool, but their defence has still looked shaky at times against top clubs.
In the Premier League, Liverpool have conceded 9 goals in 9 league matches, while in the Champions League, they have already conceded 10 goals in 4 league-stage matches, suggesting their defence hasn’t been at its best this season.
Liverpool in the Champions League: • Conceded THREE goals to LASK • Conceded THREE goals to Villarreal • Conceded *THREE goals to Fenerbahçe Utterly embarrassing 🤦♂️

With the winter transfer window approaching, Andoni Iraola will want to bring in reinforcements to add more depth and versatility to his defence to make a strong push to climb up the Premier League ladder and make a deeper run in the Champions League.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Liverpool are monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nnamdi Collins over a potential move in the winter transfer window.
However, Liverpool are not the only Premier League club interested in signing Nnamdi Collins in January, as Manchester United and Chelsea are also in the mix for his signature.
It has been suggested that Eintracht Frankfurt are not interested in selling him in January, but the German side could let him go next season for a transfer fee in the region of £30M.

Nnamdi Collins arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt from fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in 2023, and under his current contract, he is tied down to the club until 2030, after he extended his contract with them in 2024.
This term, the 22-year-old has been in and out of the Eintracht Frankfurt starting lineup, and has managed to make only 5 appearances so far in all competitions.
At Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jaquect are nailed down as the starting pair in the heart of the defence, while Joe Gomez and Ronald Araujo are used as backup options, and Giovanni Leoni is sidelined due to an ACL injury.
In boss Andoni Iraola’s system, the full-backs aggressively push forward to add numbers in attack, and the centre-backs must have exceptional recovery pace, agility, and tackling abilities to stop opposition counterattacks.
The defenders are also tasked with pinging long balls to the midfielder and wingers, building attacks with clever passes in their own half, and being strong in the air to defend set pieces while also threatening during dead-ball situations in the opposition box.
Nnamdi Collins stands above 6 feet; he is athletic and has exceptional recovery pace, and he is also a tough tackling defender who is decent at locking down opposition attackers in one-on-one situations.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be able to lure Nnamdi Collins away from Eintracht Frankfurt, as the German outfit is unwilling to part ways with him during the winter transfer window.
