Former coach hypes up Timo Werner, claims Chelsea new boy is ‘fearless at attacking defenders’

Bundesliga’s goal-scoring phenomenon has finally arrived in London and has already begun training under Frank Lampard. Chelsea splashed £48 million to earn the services of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig as Frank Lampard looks on to build a title-challenging team for the next season.

The 24-year-old’s astonishing stats from the 19/20 season stand exemplary of his proficiency in front of the goal. Werner scored 28 goals and provided eight assists in the Bundesliga while also contributing to six goals in the Champions League to help RB Leipzig progress to the quarter-finals.

Adding to the German international’s credentials, Werner’s former coach Jesse Marsch expanded on the player’s mentality and character during a podcast which left the Chelsea fans in awe with the player.

Marsch, who managed Timo Werner in Leipzig as an assistant coach, revealed that the striker likes to have a close connection with his coaching staff, which is something he already seems to have developed with boss Frank Lampard.

Marsch further went on to elaborate Werner’s personality on the pitch, which he describes as one of ‘total aggressiveness and confidence’ along with his fearlessness to attack defenders irrespective of their quality and stature.

Chelsea fans are resonating with Marsch’s words, believing that given his high football intelligence, the £48million fee would feel ‘incredibly cheap’ once Timo Werner gets to show his quality in the Premier League.
