Leeds United slammed for feeding Karen Carney to the trolls

Leeds United caused a major storm in the world of social media after taking West Bromwich Albion apart on the field last night.

The Whites romped to a 5-0 win at the Hawthorns and it seems the Leeds United Twitter admin was in no mood to take any kind of criticism of the team and Marcelo Bielsa sitting down.

In a move which is being condemned by a host of journos, pundits and ex-footballers, the official Leeds United Twitter account uploaded a little snippet featuring pundit Karen Carney after the game on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old pundit angered everyone associated with the club with her comments on Amazon Prime as she questioned Leeds United’s success in the Championship last season.

Carney said – “They out-run everyone and credit to them. My only concern is will they blow out at the end of the season. We have seen that the last couple of year.”

“I don’t know whether they would have got up if they hadn’t got that break.”

The comments did not sit right with the club as the official Twitter account mockingly uploaded the segment from Amazon Prime.

As much as the tweet was supported by majority of Leeds United fans, it also garnered plenty of criticism as various accounts pointed out how the tweet could make Carney a subject of abuse in the uncontrollable world of social media.

The former England & Chelsea footballer was previously subjected to social media abuse when rape and death threats were made against her on Instagram back in 2018.
