Ezgjan Alioski linked with a move away to a club ‘you can never go to from Leeds’

Safe to say that Leeds United fans are not happy with Ezgjan Alioski being linked with a move away to Galatasaray

Ezgjan Alioski has rejected the most recent contract offer from Leeds United and the rumour mills have linked the left-back to a move away to Galatasaray.

The rumoured club of his choice is sure to have upset a fair few Leeds United fans – keeping in mind their history with the Turkish club which goes a long way back. The loyal supporters of the Yorkshire club love their decorated history, and hence Alioski’s decision has drawn a lot of criticism ever since the news made the rounds on Twitter.

The animosity between Leeds United and Galatasaray goes as far back as 2000, as a brawl between the two sets of fans before the first leg of their UEFA Cup semi-final clash ended up with two Leeds United fans being stabbed to death by the Galatasaray fans. Four men were arrested and charged with murder, while the deaths angered the Leeds support in England – the Galatasaray away support were banned from attending the second leg at Elland Road.

Naturally, the Leeds United faithful were highly critical of the Macedonian footballer – who do acknowledge his contributions to the outfit being promoted back to the top flight – but also warn Alioski that a move to Galatasaray will undo everything that he has ever done for them.

Alioski has been cautioned by the Leeds support that a move to Galatasaray will make sure that he is forgotten as a part of Marcelo Bielsa’s team that earned promotion back to the Premier League after an absence of sixteen years.

The wing-back has also been made aware that it is probably the worst way to end one’s time at Leeds, going to the club that one can never go to from Leeds United. Despite it just being rumours at the moment, Alioski is certain to have angered the supporters who support their team so holistically, and he will tarnish his legacy with a move to Turkey – that is if he wants to indeed.
