Man Utd avoid PR disaster using steaks after food gaffe at Old Trafford

BT Sport presenter Jack Humphrey took a dig at Manchester United after he was served with bland food during the Southampton match. The match saw the Red Devils being held by Southampton in a 1-1 draw.

Presenter Jake Humphrey was hosting the channel’s coverage of the match between United and Southampton when he was provided with lunch at his studio. He was joined by pundits Paul Scholes and Glenn Hoddle as the match got underway.

The catering services at Old Trafford failed to satisfy the presenter, as minutes before the match he took to Twitter to share a picture of the lunch. The lunch was an unusual combination of what looked like a breakfast muffin along with some mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs.

With a laughing emoji, Humphrey mockingly thanked Old Trafford for the meal. The tweet has now been deleted but you can check out the image of the meal below –

To feed some fuel to the fire, he replied to the tweet with a picture of the BT studio during a Manchester City match. Captioned as “PS – How your neighbours do it” along with a winking face, the picture displayed an array of sandwiches and two plates full of chips.

Though Man United were able to avoid a PR disaster and save face after Humphrey’s tweet garnered the attention of United’s catering services and they provided the presenter with some potato wedges and a juicy steak. “That’s better”, said the 43-year-old.

In a later tweet, Humphrey clarified that he only meant this as a joke, and nothing serious!

However, the food did not reflect United’s performance in the first half, which saw Sancho scoring his first goal in the league. Sadly, only a single point could be added to the tally as Che Adams leveled for Southampton minutes after halftime.
