Old boy Shinji Kagawa throws back to Sharp-era Man United with retro kit

Old boy Shinji Kagawa throws back to Sharp-era Man United with retro kit

When you think of famous Japanese Footballers, the likes of Hidetoshi Nakata and Shunsuke Nakamura come to mind.

However, there was one specific baller that stood as the poster boy of Japanese Football for an extended period of time.

The man in question is former Manchester United midfielder, Shinji Kagawa.

Kagawa had spells at various European clubs, Borussia Dortmund and Besiktas being among them. But his spell at United certainly had the most fanfare around it, perhaps due to the incredible popularity of the club itself.

The 2-year term certainly left more to be desired, nevertheless, it appears that the Japanese still holds a certain affinity for the Red Devils.

Alongside Olympic sprinter Hakim Sani Brown, the 33-year-old was clicked sporting a Man United shirt, a rather gorgeous one as well.

Part of the 90’s capsule collection with Adidas Originals, the kit is a throwback to United’s golden era. A faint and distinct pattern can be seen on the red base, with further details visible on the sleeve cuffs and collar. The 90’s vibe is captured perfectly through the logos, with former sponsor Sharp at the centre, the Adidas Originals logo in place, and a retro United crest.

Fans found much to appreciate in the image, the kit is already a beautiful sight, and the under-appreciated baller just made it better.
