The Qatar World Cup is not just about the games but also marks an opportunity for a lot of people to get famous or ‘go viral’ – as it happens nowadays.

Because of the sheer outreach of social media these days, it doesn’t take something significant to become ‘viral’ with the fans these days.

Even the appearance of a player or anyone involved in football games can help make them viral with the fans.

Of course, with the World Cup giving a platform to many relatively unknown players and coaches from the lower-ranked teams, there are bound to be some new faces for the fans to witness.

The head coach of the Senegal national team, Aliou Cisse has caught the attention of fans with his outlandish style. Cisse sports a head full of curly hair, which isn’t familiar among football managers at all.

Cisse has enjoyed a pretty prolific career, having played for the likes of PSG and Birmingham City in his playing career.

He was also the one to guide Senegal to win the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, being as important to their success as Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese coach looked understandably nervous throughout the game and was frustrated to see his side unable to pounce on the Dutch team’s mistakes.

Some fans saw the funny side of his stern look, with one liking him to look like famous American rapper Snoop Dogg.

The fan even mentioned the rapper’s @ in his Tweet and managed to get a response from Snoop himself. The rapper responded with a single football emoji, taking it in good humour and indicating his support for the World Cup.

It also appears that the Senegal head coach was not the only victim of mistaken identity. England defender Harry Maguire faced a lot of flak going into his side’s World Cup opener against Iran.

With the Englishman being benched by Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this season, a majority of the fanbase questioned why he even deserves to start for the national team.

He proved why with a pretty stellar performance in the 6-2 win over Iran, getting an assist for Bukayo Saka’s first goal and almost scoring a goal too.

It also appears that he had a bit of a lookalike in the opposition dugout on Monday as well.

Iran decided to play their star striker Sardar Azmoun from the bench and only bring him in the second half as a substitute. Azmoun’s hairstyle and facial appearance made him look uncannily similar to Maguire, having very similar facial features and expressions.

One fan tweeted a screenshot of him in the game with the words: “Iran bringing on Hariq Mahguire.”Azmoun has scored an amazing 41 goals in 65 appearances for his national side but was unable to help his side get anything from the game.

The World Cup might only have started a few days ago, but some fans have already found enough material to come up with hilarious memes. It’s clear that by December 18, many more such comparisons should surface soon enough.
