The Celtic Glasgow chant that drowned out Rangers fans during League Cup final

The Celtic Glasgow chant that drowned out Rangers fans during League Cup final

Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic continue to dominate Scottish Football, as they picked yet another victory over Old Firm rivals Rangers on Sunday.

The Bhoys look well on their way to a 9th Scottish Premiership title in the last 10 years, having established a nine-point lead over second-placed Rangers, all while losing a single game all season.

This year also saw them make a momentous return to the UEFA Champions League, with a potential league win ensuring their participation in next year’s competition as well.

The side has moved from strength to strength on the pitch, and off it, the Celtic faithful have ensured that the atmosphere stays rocking, no matter the venue.

The Green Brigade have turned up in numbers wherever the Celtic go, and of course, they’ve been very noisy.

The atmosphere at Parkhead when The Hoops welcomed Real Madrid on a European Night is a great example of this, the passion exhibited by the home support managed to surprise even the characteristically composed Toni Kroos.

They were on top form once again during Celtic’s Viaplay cup final against Rangers, culminating in a truly special half-time moment.

The match itself saw Celtic pick up a 2-1 victory courtesy of a brace from Kyogo Furuhashi, while Rangers managed to pull one back in the 64th minute.

Despite the final taking place at a neutral venue in Hampden Park, the Green Brigade did ever so well to drown out the Blue end almost entirely,

Their spirits were elevated further by The Bhoys’ opener, which came right on the cusp of half-time in the 44th minute.

Furuhashi’s tap-in was received with rapturous celebrations from the Green end,  and their high spirits eventually transformed into a glorious chant after the half-time whistle.

This clip does it justice: green mist in the air, scarves waving about, and limbs visible just about everywhere, the vibes were clearly immaculate.

The chant itself is short on lyrics but it does generate quite a bit of energy, the lyrics are – ‘Celtic Glasgow oooooooooo Ooooo Ooooo Celtic Glasgow!’

The Green Brigade kept the energy up for the entirety of the game, and the chant rang across the venue for minutes.

An alternate angle of the scenes can be viewed here, we cannot praise the atmosphere enough.

The scale of the effort is tremendous really, 10,000 plus in Green all singing and clapping passionately, all while the opposite end has simply no response to offer up.

Celtic having a passionate fanbase is common knowledge, but it’s time to recognize their fans are some of the best across Europe.

Having won the league cup, the team’s focus will undoubtedly be on completing the double and securing the Scottish Premiership title.
