Kylian Mbappe: My Child Will Have the Freedom to Represent France or Cameroon

Kylian Mbappe recently visited his father’s home town Cameroon and was asked if he had a talented footballer son, would he encourage him to play for the France or Cameroon team? His answer was truly special.

Kylian Mbappé, the talented French footballer and captain of the national team, recently opened up about his future children and their potential sporting nationalities.

Despite his own success representing France, Mbappé expressed that he would not impose a choice between France and Cameroon on his future child if they become a top footballer.

Born in France with Cameroonian heritage, Mbappé has a deep connection to both countries. During his visit to Cameroon, he granted an interview to La Nouvelle Chaîne Ivoirienne, where the topic of sporting nationality arose.

In the interview, Mbappé shared his perspective on the matter, stating that he would respect his child’s personal choice, taking into account their attachment to both countries. If they were closer to Cameroon, he would support their decision to represent that nation, and the same goes for France if they were more connected to the country of his birth. Mbappé also addressed the issue of racism in football. He believes that players need to do more to combat discrimination and hopes for a stronger collective effort.

The football star’s double culture is something he cherishes and sees as an asset. Having French and Cameroonian origins, Mbappé considers it a privilege to embrace both sides of his heritage. He values the diverse values and experiences acquired from these origins, which shape his identity, personality, and behavior. Rather than viewing his dual heritage as a constraint, Mbappé sees it in a positive light and appreciates the richness it brings to his life.

During his stay in Cameroon, Mbappé made the most of his time by engaging in various activities beyond football. He visited a school for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, organized by the Foundation for the Education and Promotion of Hearing-Impaired.

The Paris Saint-Germain star also participated in a basketball match against Joakim Noah and the locals of Cameroon. These experiences allowed him to connect with the local community and contribute to meaningful causes.
