Gabri Veiga was probably involved in arguably the most shocking transfer of the 2023 summer window when he opted to reject interest from prominent European sides to move to Saudi Arabia, but EA seems to have rewarded his heroics from last season with a stunning upgrade in his rating in the upcoming FC 24.
The 21-year-old was one of the best young players in La Liga last season and played a major role in ensuring that Celta Vigo stayed afloat in the league. He scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 36 league games, proving his ability as a brilliant goal-scoring midfielder who is blessed with creativity and an eye for something special.
Veiga attracted interest from multiple major clubs in the European window. Napoli, in particular, seemed quite eager to sign him and really pushed to sign him. However, instead of joining the reigning Italian champions, the Spaniard’s head was turned by a lucrative offer from Saudi club Al-Ahli.
Instead of taking a step forward into making himself one of the best youngsters in European football, he opted to join the Saudi side and will now be spending his key development years in Saudi Arabia.
What is Gabri Veiga’s rating in FC 24?
Veiga’s transfer attracted a lot of criticism and shock, with Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos even publicly voicing his displeasure at it when it happened. Despite Veiga losing the faith of many fans with his move to the Gulf nation, it appears that EA weren’t that bothered because they’ve rewarded his heroics in their upcoming FC 24 video game.
The 21-year-old had a pretty poor 61 starting rating for their FIFA 23 edition, but EA Sports have recognized his talent to pump that up quite significantly. A leaked version of his FC 24 rating card shows that Veiga will now have a starting rating of 78, which means he’s received a +17 increase to his card.
This is probably going to be the highest spike in rating that any player in the game has received for the upcoming edition. A number of other prominent young players have seen major increases to their ratings in the upcoming edition. Barcelona full-back Alex Balde has received a +13 increase from the previous edition, while Manchester United stars Alejandro Garnacho (+11) and Rasmus Hojlund (+9) have gotten impressive increases too.
Fans unimpressed with Veiga’s upgrade
However, nobody appears to have received the kind of rating increase as Gabri Veiga and fans have been left quite surprised by it. Some believe that he did not deserve that kind of an increase just because he opted to move to the Saudi Pro League over anything else.

In fact, fans are calling for his overall rating to be docked by a few numbers because of how he decided to join Al-Ahli for the money than continue his progress at a club like Napoli or someone similar.
Normally, EA doesn’t give this kind of a huge increase to any FIFA cards, but they appear to be giving it to Veiga because of the amazing breakthrough campaign he enjoyed at a club like Celta Vigo last season – which was also why Al-Ahli paid such big money for him.
