Anfield Loan Shock: Liverpool Considers Repeat Move For Elliott

Harvey Elliott, Liverpool

At 15 years and 174 days, Harvey Elliott became the youngest player ever to play in the EFL Cup.

After starting his senior career at Fulham, he joined Liverpool at 16 and has since become a fan favorite among the Kop.

Recently, the 21-year-old scored a dramatic winner just 47 seconds after coming off the bench against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

This season, Elliott has made just 10 appearances, registering a single assist.

The Englishman has struggled for game time under new boss Arne Slot, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister preferred in midfield.

In contrast, Elliott played a much bigger role under Jurgen Klopp in the past two seasons, featuring regularly in the squad.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool is considering sending Elliott out on loan next season to secure more regular playing time.

Former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown exclusively shared this insight with the outlet.

The midfielder has previously had a loan spell with Blackburn Rovers, and his performances nominated him for the 2021 EFL Young Player of the Season award.

During his loan spell at Blackburn, Elliott recorded his best season yet, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists.

With Arne Slot’s current midfield performing up to the Dutchman’s expectations, a temporary move could be the best path for Elliott’s development.

At just 21, he still has plenty of time to reach his peak.

While Elliott remains under contract until 2027, Liverpool’s immediate focus is on resolving more pressing contract situations, including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom are nearing the end of their deals.
