This news is surprising given Real Madrid’s reputation as one of the world’s best-managed clubs. Under Perez, the club has secured stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kyliane, and Jude Bellingham over the years, often spending heavily.

Financially, Real Madrid has been robust with their 2023/24 annual report revealing a historic €1.073 billion in revenue, and a net debt of just €8 million.

The revamped Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, costing €1.163 billion, was expected to boost income through events like concerts, with projections of over €400 million annually once fully operational in 2025/26.

However, a fan theory gaining traction on X suggests a cash crunch stems from lost concert revenue.

Noise complaints from Chamartin residents led to the cancellation or postponement of concerts at the Bernabeu, including those by Dellafuente, Aitana, and Lola Indigo. What was even worse that these events were moved to the rival Atletico’s Wanda Metropolitano.

Residents argued the new Bernabeu stadium lacked proper licenses for non-sporting events, a claim Real Madrid disputes.

As it turns out, each canceled concert costs the club approximately €235,000 plus ticket commissions.

Fans theorize that Real Madrid were perhaps expecting a significant concert income to offset stadium debt. That option is now financially strained due to noise complaints which will in turn limit their transfer activity.
