Liam Delap Breaks Internet With Math Skills No One Thought Footballers Could Possess

Chelsea, Liam Delap

Liam Delap made headlines by securing a permanent move from Ipswich Town to Chelsea this summer. The 22 YO signed a six-year deal worth around £30 million, signaling the start of an exciting new chapter in his growing career.

Delap has already made a strong impression with his early performances, scoring and assisting in the FIFA Club World Cup and even netting a brace in a preseason clash against AC Milan.

Chelsea started their Premier League 25/26 Premier League campaign with a 0–0 draw against Crystal Palace, where Liam Delap came on in the 73rd minute, creating chances but failing to score. In the second matchday, Chelsea gained an impressive 5–1 win over West Ham, but Delap couldn’t get on the scoresheet despite it being a goalfest.

Recently, the 6”1’ tall striker captured the spotlight off the pitch in a viral clip that showcased his mathematical brain.

According to the post on social media by Chelsea FC, the young English striker was quizzed on some tough math, specifically calculating cube roots without a calculator. He seemingly nailed them in mere seconds, including identifying the cube root of 79,507, 274,625, 39,304, and 778,688.

Fans are so surprised and shocked over this display of intelligence, with many taking to social media to share their reactions.

@rstinger94 stated, “I can do this tho but still impressive. Always feels different when you see a smart footballer cause everyone thinks they just kick balls all their lives lol.”

“Doing all that and then replying to the person that asks you how you do it with ‘just clever innit’ is so funny to me🤣” @ski2809utd made fun of the star player.

@ClaphamKiddo stated, “If I’m a defender on a corner marking him, I’m asking him shit like this to put him off 😂😂”

Apart from this, many fans called this video scripted and staged.

@CFCDarlington wrote, “It’s either there’s a simple trick to find cube root, or it is staged. The numbers are staggering high to get an answer that quick and not miss one.”

Another user @F4F_B4B revealed the trick by saying, “It’s actually easier than it looks, and I’ll teach you. Basically just memorise 1-9 cubed, which is 1, 8, 27, 64, 125, 216, 343, 512, 729. Now just find the last digit which matches the long numbers last digit, so if it ends it 5, then the last digit is 5.”

This unexpected display of mathematical brilliance earned him the tag of a “maths genius” among fans and showcased another side of his personality off the pitch.
