Which Newcastle Stars Posted Farewell Messages For Alexander Isak?

Alexander Isak, Liverpool, Newcastle United

Newcastle United fans are absolutely rattled by some of their former and current players, who have shown their support for the club’s former No. 9 Alexander Isak. The 25-year-old Sweden international, who was brought to the Premier league by the Magpies in 2022, completed his much-awaited move to Liverpool on the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Regarded as one of the most prolific and exciting strikers across Europe currently, Alexander Isak has left a big hole in the Newcastle United squad right at the start of the season. His absence has heavily affected the club’s performances in their opening league matches as they have failed to win each of their 3 ties against Aston Villa, Liverpool and Leeds United.

They drew 0-0 against Villa on the opening day away from home before crashing out 3-2 against reigning champions Liverpool at St. James Park. On the final matchday before the new season’s first international break, Newcastle played out another frustrating goalless draw against newly promoted side Leeds at Elland Road.

This is surely a direct impact of Alexander Isak’s absence, who had also missed the entire pre-season camp with Newcastle as he protested against the club for initially blocking a move to Anfield. On deadline day, the club owners and head coach Eddie Howe had no option but to accept Liverpool’s 130 million euros bid for their talisman, who netted 54 goals and provided 9 assists in 86 top-flight appearances.

Isak with Newcastle United

Isak was also instrumental in helping Newcastle United win their first major trophy in 70 years when they defeated Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final earlier in March. The club supporters will need quite some time to get familiar with Isak’s replacement Nick Woltemade, who arrived for a price of 64.9 million euros from Bundesliga outfit VFB Stuttgart.

Speaking of Newcastle United fans, plenty of them are pissed off at some of their former and current players for openly displaying their support for outcast Alexander Isak. The word outcast might seem harsh but the club supporters might be using more derogatory terms than we can even think of.

Anthony Gordon, Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint Maximin and more trigger reactions for social media interactions with Isak

Newcastle United’s No. 10 Anthony Gordon took to Instagram to write an emotional farewell message to Alexander Isak following the latter’s exit. Gordon wrote that it was a pleasure for him to partner with Isak and regardless of the noise on social media, he had one of the best chemistries with the Swede and that he wants nothing but the best for his former teammate.

“Regardless of the situation and what’s gone on. It’s been a pleasure to play with you. One of the best chemistries I’ve had on the pitch and more importantly a great person and teammate. I wish you nothing but the best brother. ” – Gordon wrote via his Instagram story.

Centre-back Sven Botman also showed love to Alexander Isak with a message that read, “What started off as a teammates growed in one of my rare best friendships. No more words needed brother, all the best in your next chapter.” – Botman wrote on his Instagram story.

This, obviously, didn’t go well with a Newcastle United fan, who took the screenshots and uploaded on X while writing “Wow” in response to Anthony Gordon’s remarks. To the story that Botman shared, the user named Murph wrote, “Just text him. Proper “read the room” vibes here.”

Some fans had nice things to say like, “I could be in the minority here but I really couldn’t care less. It’s not that deep lmo.”, “They were working together for three years. This is absolutely normal and changes nothing. Surprised people care.”

Another fan took a jab at Anthony Gordon. “I guess this is where the rumoured player “divide” will show. Gordon, like Isak has no affinity for NUFC. Would anyone be shocked if a similar thing happens with Gordon in the next year or so?

In another X post, Newcastle United’s new signing Anthony Elanga was seen sharing a light-hearted moment with fellow Swede Alexander Isak during a Sweden training camp with the user asking people not to share this post to Geordie Josh.

Former players like Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint Maximin and Sean Longstaff liked Isak’s farewell video for Newcastle United on Instagram and that too became an issue among the fans.

Responses flooded in. “Almiron is a kn*b. Hasn’t popsted a thing about us since he left not even a peep when we won the cup yet he’s liking this.”

After all this, one thing is certain – Alexander Isak will never be welcomed again by the Newcastle United fans and whenever the player plays in front of them, it won’t be shocking to hear songs or chants directed against him. The Newcastle fans will also be hoping that Isak turns out to be a flop 130 million signing for Liverpool. How many will goals will the Swede score this season? Time will tell.
