Lamine Yamal has been the most talked-about player in world football for the last couple of years. Not only is he extremely talented with gifts that get him compared to Messi, but he is also extremely consistent for his age, carrying FC Barcelona and the Spanish National Team on his back while breaking records left, right, and centre.
Being touted as the best player in the world, conquering Europe by leading his country to a Euro title at just 17, and even getting praise like “better than what Messi was at 17”, you can say Yamal has the world at his feet.
Despite his age, Yamal has become incredibly consistent, and even when he isn’t scoring, he is still extremely influential in Barca’s success. You can almost guarantee that every time he steps onto the pitch, he will do something that will make him go viral.

This is exactly what happened this weekend as Barcelona played Elche and Yamal opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a scintillating left-footed curler from the edge of the penalty box.
That wasn’t his only memorable moment in the game, as his shirt swap with Hector Fort also went viral. Barca fans couldn’t get enough of their adorable bromance.
Hector Fort, currently on loan at Elche from Barcelona, is one of Yamal’s closest friends. Despite the competitiveness on the pitch, once the final whistle blew, the two were all smiles as they shared a wholesome moment as they exchanged their jerseys.
As Fort was coming towards Yamal, the Barca forward threw his jersey at Fort with a nonchalant expression, and Fort threw his jersey right back at Yamal. Then the two smiled and shared a warm embrace while having a quick chat while covering their mouth.

While we don’t know what they said after the match, we do know what was said before the game.
Fort was full of praise for his former teammate while embracing the challenge of facing his former teammate.
“Lamine has been my friend for years, I know him perfectly. People should focus on watching him play because he’s incredible. I would love to mark Lamine this Sunday in the Barca-Elche match. Maybe I’ll lose out in some plays, but I would love it.”
How do you see Lamine Yamal in a season that’s talked about so much inside and outside the stadium?

🚨🎙️| Héctor Fort: "I don’t see Lamine Yamal the way people see him; I see him as a friend before he’s a star.
We’ve spent long years together and shared so many moments." pic.twitter.com/q8MuNBOtCe
While he didn’t get to face Yamal for long, as he only came on the pitch for the last 20 minutes, Yamal did have a huge impact on the match, opening the scoring before Ferran Torres and Rashford with his new celebration, rounding off the 3-1 win.
Talking about his performance after the game, Fort said, “I don’t see Lamine like everyone else. I see him as my friend… We’ve been together for many years, we’ve shared a lot, and I was excited to face him. I don’t think I did too badly. I caught him a bit tired.”
The two have been more like brothers since day one and have spent countless hours training side by side. From playing alongside each other at La Masia to coming through the ranks and debuting for Barca before getting to play for the Spanish National Team.

The two have been very vocal about their brotherhood. When asked about what it feels like to share a pitch with players like Hector Ford and Cubarsi, Yamal said:
“I am really happy because when I was younger, I was in the same team as them. It’s easier being in the first team with them, given I have played alongside them all my life.
In a recent interview with Catalan Radio, Fort was seen talking about his friendship with Yamal, stating that they have been friends for years, and that despite his move to Elche, their relationship isn’t lost with the distance.
