Look – 19 YO Ethan Nwaneri Returns To Arsenal Heavily Bearded

Arsenal, Body Talk, Ethan Nwaneri

Football is a game of uncertainty, which can often take you to the absolute top and bring you down to the absolute bottom just in a few months and Ethan Nwaneri has been a perfect example of that.

Just 18 months ago, the teenager became the talk of the town, with a breakthrough season for Arsenal.

During the 2024-25 season Nwaneri featured 37 times for the Gunners across competition, scoring nine and assisting a further couple.

However, 2025-26 has been a completely different story altogether for Arsenal academy graduate.

Nwaneri appeared at the start of the preseason with renewed hope and aspirations, and an envious body transformation.

He himself claimed, “I’ve changed physically and mentally… I’ve definitely become stronger.”

But what followed was a horrendous season. Nwaneri struggled to find regular gametime in the first team, managing just 12 appearances in all competitions.

With the Gunners’ attack stacked with world class talents like Kai Havertz, Viktor Gyökeres, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal decided to send Nwaneri on loan to Marseille till the end of the season during the January transfer window.

However, just after four months, as Nwaneri returned to North London, fans could barely believe what he had turned into and it is certainly not about his footballing skills.

Nwaneri, recently spotted outside a fitness gym at Archway, looks very different from a few months ago.

It appears that the teenager has grown a beard and changed his hairstyle a bit, but it is more of his facial appearance that shocked many.

Nwaneri exhibits a full, neatly trimmed dark beard and mustache, and has a mid-to-high fade haircut, a look he grew out during his time away, giving a more matured look for a teenager who barely turned 19 just a couple of months back.

Even in the now viral picture, Nwaneri seems to be a bit lost and uninterested, as his subtle smile appears to be more of a forced attempt to look proper in front of the camera.

While many simply disapproved of his bearded look, some fans claim the youngster appeared aged, and joked that he looked like being taken to an asylum or spending time at jail, clearly indicating the possible stress and uncertainty he had to go through in France.

Nwaneri’s loan spell at Marseille was far from ideal, as he managed just 412 minutes for the club across competitions, with the club’s managerial change not helping his cause either.

Though the loan deal was a failure, Arsenal are reported to gain financial benefits from it as reports claim there was a variable penalty clause where Marseille owed Arsenal more money the less the teenager played.

Furthermore, it seems as if his Arsenal days are numbered as reports claim he could be on the go in the summer. That being said, at least for now all the talk regarding Nwaneri is solely centred around his looks and not his footballing skills.
