Brazil is the most successful nation in the history of the tournament with five trophies to show for their efforts and though he has not played regularly due to injuries, Neymar is still that team’s current superstar and all-time leading goal scorer.
The Brazilian number 10 enjoys an unparalleled fanbase across the continent with millions of fans worldwide but it recently got revealed that Neymar is a fan of the TV series Arrow.
He likes the show so much that the Brazilian slid in to the DM’s of Stephen Amell who plays the main protagonist Oliver Queen just to express his admiration with a simple ‘Big Fan’ text.
However, Amell was completely unaware of it and the whole scenario was exposed in the Sunday segment of James Corden’s ‘FIFA World Cup on Fox After Hours’.
Corden showed his audience the proof that indeed Neymar sent Amell a message back in 2018 and followed him on Instagram, but neither the actor followed him back nor texted back. On the show, Amell had little choice than hiding his face in playful embarrassment.
Well Corden took the task upon himself to reply to Neymar’s dm on behalf of Amell and wrote in front of all the audience, ‘Hey bro, just saw this. Thrilled you’re a big fan. Are you in the States? Let’s hang, just me and you. I’m in the new Baywatch series on Fox. You will love it. I’m currently with Rio Ferdinand. He hates you’.
To everyone’s surprise, Neymar’s reply to Amell’s dm came in less than five minutes.
Corden again showed to the audience and read Neymar’s reply which had, ‘Yes… I’m in the US for the World Cup! We’re staying at a hotel in Houston and can’t leave until the tournament ends… It would be a real pleasure to meet you; I followed your work on Arrow it was amazing! Please give my best to Rio… that guy was incredible on the field.’ written on it.
Well this exchange of text may have started a new superstar friendship as Amell revealed afterwards that they have become best friends since that and he even wished Neymar luck before the Japan round of 32 game, which the Selecao won to book their place in the round of 16.
As Brazil and Neymar’s World Cup journey rolls on Amell revealed that he would like to be present in a Brazil game soon and for Neymar it would be about giving his all when and if he gets an opportunity to play, guiding his team to their sixth trophy.
