With 976 career goals to his name and counting, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most renowned athletes in the world. Having won pretty much everything there is to win in world football, it looks like the Portuguese has now set out for a new challenge in the world of entertainment.
Ronaldo is reportedly going to produce and star in a new football drama series called “Day 1s”. Though he has he has been the focus of biographical films like Ronaldo (2015) and Cristiano Ronaldo: The World at His Feet (2014), this will be the first time he is actually acting as a traditional scripted character in the story of a movie/series.
Not many details have yet been announced, but those that have are certainly enough to cause plenty of excitement amongst football fans. As far as the casting goes, in addition to Ronaldo himeslf, another legendary figure from the world of football, Thierry Henry, is also set to feature. Damian Lewis will also reportedly play the role of a football agent, while hugely popular rapper Dave will also be making an appearance.

Critically acclaimed English filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, known most prominently for the Kingsman movie series, will be taking charge as the director of the show.
Drawing on Ronaldo’s personal experiences from the time he spent as a player in England, Day 1s is a fictional drama set in world of British football. Instead of the actual matches, however, reports claim the show is focused more on the lesser-known business aspect of the sport.
The plot follows the life of Stanley Dalton, a football agent played by Damian Lewis, and his experience of navigating interactions with high-profile players, internal club politics and his own personal relationships.
While the show is in the early stages of production, some shooting has taken place in The Hive Stadium in London, and several other locations in the English capital.
An insider in the TV industry revealed Ronaldo and the show’s other executive producers decided to create the series after recognising the sudden increase in British football brought about by the 2026 FIFA World Cup, particularly amongst the audience based in the United States.
While no release date has yet been announced, there is a good chance that the show causes a bidding war amongst the main players in the digital media streaming space, such as Netflix, Prime Video, HBO and Disney+, considering the prominent names that are part of the project.
While Cristiano Ronaldo’s foray into the world of acting and entertainment might come as a surprise to many, the legendary forward has made his desire to do so clear in the past.
“Movies (talking about what he wants to pursue after his football career ends). Yeah (I’d like to be an actor),” Ronaldo said during an interview which took place early in his career.

While the decision to star and produce such as high-profile show is definitely ambitious for someone with no prior experience in the industry, we are sure to have a massive hit on our hands if Ronaldo’s performance in front of the camera can match the kind of performances he has been putting in on the football pitch for the best part of 24 years.
