Messi’s New Adidas Ad Features a Goat And Fans Know Exactly What It Means
For many soccer fans, the debate over who is the greatest of all time was settled a long time ago.
Even before Lionel Messi secured an international trophy with Argentina, his extraordinary output and playing style had already convinced countless supporters that he was the best player in history.
After that, the national team’s praises started coming in one after another.
The triumphs at the 2021 Copa América, the Finalissima, the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 Copa América are beyond dispute.
Some fans might prefer Cristiano Ronaldo, Pelé or Diego Maradona, but building a case for Messi has never been easier.
And the man himself appears to recognise that fact.
Throughout his career, Messi has remained modest and down‑to‑earth whenever asked about his standing among the all‑time greats.
He has consistently stated that the team’s success matters more to him than his individual legacy.
Yet in a fresh advertisement for Adidas and his own Team Messi brand, Messi stayed quiet while effectively letting the ‘goat’ do all the talking.
Lionel Messi’s latest commercial for Adidas places him alongside a goat at the peak of a mountain.
Shared on his Instagram page in partnership with Adidas Football, the clip shows Messi seated atop a mountain in a contemplative “thinking man” pose, with a goat climbing directly behind him.

Many fans have speculated that Messi and Adidas are actively “trolling” Cristiano Ronaldo with this post, since the Portuguese has failed to secure a World Cup and is behind on nearly every metric.
Highest trophies, highest World Cup Golden Ball, highest Ballon d’Or, highest dribbles, highest assists, highest playmaker awards, and highest goal-to-game ratio; all relevant lists put Messi at the top.
The ad clearly recognizes Ronaldo as one of the greats, hence the ‘GOAT’ reference, indicating the striker is just a step behind Messi, who has that precious international trophy.
Messi is actually a troll! It took me some time to understand this video. 😂 pic.twitter.com/8Ak5xJCoSH

This ad appears to be for his brand’s new line of gold-colored boots, the new adidas F50 ‘Hora Dorada’, and the caption reads, “Peak Golden Hour.”
They have the same visual design we’ve seen on his boot line, now reworked with a sunset-inspired palette that shifts between warm orange tones and golden reflections.

Through this new post, the Argentine is clearly excited about the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Messi may be staying quiet about whether he plans to feature in that tournament, but it is evident that he still feels golden and continues to refine his game.
