After a long exile of 25 years from the top division of English football, Coventry City are finally back in the Premier League.

Although Coventry were a founding member of the PL in 1992, the club has had no luck since its relegation in 2001, even dropping to the 4th tier during this time.

They played Blackburn Rovers this weekend and trailed in the second half via a Ryoya Morishita hit.

It was only in the 84th minute that Frank Lampard’s side equalized thanks to a goal from defender Bobby Thomas.

With the draw, Coventry confirmed its promotion, giving fans a reason to celebrate.

One fan who seemed extremely pleased with the result was no other than Connah Chahal.

The 32-year-old is a popular content creator, especially on TikTok, where he has over 298k followers going by the handle of @connahchahal.

He is also known for his YouTube channel ConnahChahal, based around football focused content.

With over 2.3k subscribers and 14.3k followers on Instagram, he is one of the most recognized faces among Coventry YouTubers, with the likes of Alex Craig and Matt SB.

Born and brought up in Coventry, the creator has roots in India and an affinity for the local football club, which he expressed in an interview given to Sky Sports after the game.

“I cannot believe it, 25 years away and it’s over. We actually did it,” he added, Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea, we’ll see you.”

However, his recent fame have landed him in hot water with the online football community, who have raised questions about his allegiance to Coventry City.

Many Twitter users brought up his history of creating content focused on Manchester United and openly supporting them in a penalty shootout against Coventry in an FA Cup game two years ago.

It is not a secret that the 32-year-old is a United fan. He is a prominent figure creating content around the team on TikTok. He has often been spotted in the red Devil’s jersey as well.

Chahal once explained his father is a United supporter, and he grew up watching Cristiano Ronaldo and the team enjoying huge success, while Coventry City was out of the spotlight in the lower echelons of the English game.

It is not uncommon to support your local team in tandem with having a Premier League team, but the fact that Chahal has now turned up in the Sky Blue after the club clinched promotion, has the whole community accusing him of being a bandwagon fan and a glory hunter.

It will also be frustrating for the Sky Blues to have the face of the community exposed as a Manchester United fan, while there are many who have solely supported the club through the toughest times.
