Ruben Dias showed athleticism of the highest order with a world-class tackle on Harry Kane during the Carabao Cup final win against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Unluckily for the Manchester City defender, referee Paul Tierney adjudged it to be a foul on the England international and awarded Spurs a freekick.
Though, there is a good chance that the referee’s decision might have been swayed by the extreme reaction from Kane.
Harry Kane was lambasted on Twitter after he appeared to have made a meal of what was a superb piece of defending from Ruben Dias.
The Portuguese international delivered a monster performance to earn his side a well-deserved trophy as he snuffed out any little chance Spurs had managed to create during the game.
His tackle on Kane was as satisfying as it gets, only marred by the Spurs forward’s over-the-top reaction –

Perfect tackle by Dias and he gets punished for it
That’s awful from Kane and the ref. Fantastic tackle by Dias.— Dan King (@DanKing_1974) April 25, 2021
Brilliant tackle Dias. That’s where Football is dying. Not #SuperLeague taking over. Tackles like that being given as a foul. Disgusting from Harry Kane too.— D Black (@DiStarrEnu) April 25, 2021
