Camera angle creates fake controversy as Cristiano Ronaldo appears to spit on Anthony Elanga

Manchester United faltered once again as they gave up a goal advantage and ended up drawing their encounter against Southampton 1-1.

Their draw against Ralph Hassenhutl’s side was the third occasion in eight days where they’ve given up a 1-0 lead.

Lacklustre attacking alongside defending that leaves much to be desired seem to be suspects behind United’s current form.

The game also served as an example of the disconnect between United players, especially during the hilarious free-kick routine in which all United appeared to be offside.

Another moment featuring Cristiano Ronaldo seems to point towards a lack of synchronisation amongst the Red Devils.

In this clip doing the rounds on the internet, the former Juventus man can be seen spitting on teammate Anthony Elanga.

The affair lasts a couple of seconds, but the more you look at it, the more obvious it becomes.

Users online also pointed out a certain bit of spittle which appeared to deflect back off the Swede.

But there is a good chance that the angle with which the incident was captured might have made it appear as such.

The incident is almost certainly an accident and a rather unfortunate one at that.

Going by the clip, Elanga doesn’t seem to notice, perhaps due to how quickly it happened.

Ronaldo has cut a frustrated figure in his recent outing for United.

The striker has failed to find the back of the net since December and does appear to be in a bit of a slump.

And if United are to mount a top 4 challenge, they will certainly need their main man to be firing on all cylinders.
