Not Sam Kerr: The Women’s Footballer Ranked Higher Than Messi & Ronaldo in FIFA 23

FIFA 23 is just around the corner as gamers gear up for more of the virtual footballing fun.

Incidentally, this will be the last edition of the video game with this title, with EA Sports ending its association with FIFA.

Over the years, EA has been criticized for not bringing enough changes to FIFA games as gamers would have liked.

Their in-game micro-transactional system means the game has slowly become more about convincing players to spend money on it.

This year, however, EA Sports have decided to bring a fascinating one-of-a-kind change.

They have decided to make a female footballer one of the highest-rated players in the game.

Women’s Football is heavily featured in FIFA 23 and they’ve brought some aspects in to encourage more fans to use the female sides and players.

To give a feeling of equality for both the male and female players, EA Sports have also re-designed their player rating system accordingly.

That means the major female stars will also be rated the same as some of the world’s best male players.

Chelsea WFC star Sam Kerr is a prominent personality and made some history recently when EA Sports chose to have her on the cover of FIFA 23.

That means her face will be seen in the physical editions of the game alongside PSG forward Kylian Mbappe.

Kerr had a brilliant campaign with Chelsea WFC to help them win the Women’s Super League last season, scoring 20 goals and providing 4 assists in 20 games.

Despite being the cover star of the game, the Australian forward’s rating is still not the highest-rated female player in FIFA 23.

That honour has been taken by Barcelona Femeni star Alexia Putellas. Kerr is leaked to be rated at around 91, which is still not enough to match the Spaniard’s rating of 93.

This comes after both the female stars had really impressive campaigns for their respective sides.

Putellas was prolific in helping Barcelona Femeni completely dominate the 2021/22 Primera Division (Women’s) campaign – helping them win all 30 of their games.

Alexia Putellas has been handed a massive 93 rating, with her pace, dribbling and shooting attributes all well over the mark of 90.

She is the highest-rated woman footballer in the game after having scored 39 goals in 36 games for FC Barcelona’s Femini side last season.

Considering that she is regarded as the best women’s footballer in the world, Putellas has been given a significant rating to reflect that dominance.

That being said, both the female stars are ranked higher (or equal) to some of the world’s best male footballers.

That includes both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – two of the best footballers of all time. Ronaldo’s leaked card shows him with an overall rating of 90, while Messi has been rated at around 91.

Though the Barca Femini star being rated higher than Messi and Ronaldo stirred up a little debate on social media, the majority seem to agree with the rating.
