How Real Madrid fan Khvicha Kvaratskhelia turned his love for Guti into a DIY jersey

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s exceptional performances this season have not gone unnoticed by the leading clubs in Europe.

According to 90min, there are more than 5 clubs interested in bringing Kvaratskhelia, who could cost around 110 million euros.

With an impressive tally of 10 goals and 9 assists in just 21 games, Kvaratskhelia’s electrifying performances have been setting Serie A ablaze.

It’s no wonder that he has emerged as a prime target for clubs seeking to bolster their attacking prowess.

Thanks to a stellar partnership between Victor Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, as well as Kim Min-Jae’s top-notch defending skills, Napoli currently holds a commanding 17-point lead over second-place Lazio in Serie A.

The biggest highlight of this coup d’etat by Napoli would be their exhilarating victory against Juventus.

Kvaratskhelia’s exceptional abilities have already cemented his position as one of the most promising talents in Europe.

It’s no secret that top clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are constantly on the lookout for such talents, owing to their reputation and global impact.

Real Madrid demonstrated their status as the world’s greatest club last season, leaving no doubt as to their standing in the sport.

This does not come as a surprise that “Kvaradona” would want a move to Real Madrid. He has already expressed his love for Real Madrid in an interview with CNN World Sport in 2022.

The Georgian winger revealed his lifelong support for Real Madrid and his ultimate goal of winning the Champions League with the club.

The 22-year-old also expressed his childhood admiration for former Los Blancos midfielder Guti, whom he idolized as a player.

Guti made over 500 appearances for Real Madrid in the span of 15 years.

In an interview with Geo Team, Kvaratskhelia said:

“I love football because of Guti, who played in Real Madrid. By the way, when I was a child, Guti’s T-shirts were not sold in Georgia. I bought a white jersey and wrote the number 14 on the back with a pen. I always wore this jersey when I played football.”

Guti has also reportedly agreed to send Kvaratskhelia his signed t-shirt in response to this interview.

This was not the first time he showed admiration for the Real Madrid legend. Back in December 2022, he gave an interview to DAZN in which he named his favourite player while growing up:

“Guti. I always watched him and I liked the way he played. He was already grown up when I followed him and shortly after he left football. After Guti, my favorite has become Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Clearly, there could be no stronger indication of his passion for the club than these statements about his idols while growing up.

Now his former academy coach Andres Carrasco has suggested that Kvaratskhelia would fit in perfectly with Los Blancos. In an interview with Diario AS, Carrasco said:

“Kvara fits into the Real Madrid philosophy, to never give up, fight until the end. He’s a Madridista so he doesn’t mind being linked to them.”

This interview might have put the 6-feet tall winger on Real Madrid’s radar if he wasn’t already. But this does not mean Real Madrid will splash the cash as they did in Tchouaméni’s case.

This is because Real Madrid already has two world-class wingers in the Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo with highly rated Federico Valverde and expensive flop Eden Hazard also in the line for the spot. This makes it difficult for Kvaratskhelia to earn himself the Real Madrid jersey.

With that being said Kvaratskhelia love for Los Blancos has already earned him praise from Real Madrid support with Fans on Twitter already considering him a Real Madrid player.

The Los Blancos fanbase has urged Florentino Perez to sign him already. Some have even gone further and called for selling Vinicius and bringing Kvaratskhelia in. This was outrageous but most of the tweets were about bringing him in for his love for Madrid.

If there is one thing that Madrid fans love then it is a player who wants to fight for the jersey.

The fervour for football among Madrid supporters is so intense that they can amass in numbers as large as 80,000 to witness the unveiling of Cristiano Ronaldo, or even turn against their own player Gareth Bale and shower him with jeers during a match.

Real Madrid may face a significant challenge in their pursuit of Kvaratskhelia, seeing as there are pictures of him wearing a Chelsea kit during his childhood.

Napoli stands to gain the most from the current scenario as they acquired Kvaratskhelia for a mere 12 million euros in the summer and now his value is estimated at a whopping 60 million euros by Transfermarkt. With several top European clubs vying for him, this could potentially earn Napoli ten times the amount they initially invested in Kvaratskhelia.
