The Exact Moment Joselu Made MUTV Commentators Eat Their Words

Spain international Joselu answered his critics from MUTV in spectacular fashion, scoring for Real Madrid against Manchester United towards the end of the game to add the gloss to a 2-0 win.

Los Blancos opted to bring back their youth product on loan from relegated Espanyol, with an option to buy, after he recorded his best-ever numbers in La Liga last season, to cover the gaping hole left by talismanic forward Karim Benzema’s departure to Saudi Arabia.

In fact, Joselu was outscored only by the pair of Benzema and Robert Lewandowski in the competition.

The 33-year-old was laid into by the commentary team at MUTV when he missed a gilt-edged chance to add to Madrid’s advantage after coming off the bench in the second half.

It was mentioned that finishing of that standard was the reason behind Joselu’s abysmal goalscoring record during his time in England.

They specifically pointed to the Spanish forward’s record with former club Stoke City in the Premier League, having scored 4 goals in 22 league appearances for the Potters during the 2015-16 season.

Moreover, Joselu did not fare much better with Newcastle United either, scoring just 6 goals from 46 league matches across two seasons.

The expectation that the Spaniard could influence this fixture in any manner was low, with the forward also hitting the woodwork before forcing his detractors to eat their words right at the death.

In the 89th minute, Toni Kroos found Lucas Vazquez on the right flank, who then floated in a cross that looked to be behind Joselu, with the forward having other ideas.

Joselu beat Red Devils’ new boy Andre Onana, netting with a superb bicycle kick to put the result of the game beyond any doubt and opening his account for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in some style.

Los Blancos made it two wins out of two in their ongoing pre-season campaign, after coming from behind to beat AC Milan 3-2 three days previously.

The Meringues will face arch-rivals Barcelona in three days’ time before taking on Juventus to complete their participation in the Soccer Champions Tour.

Coincidentally, Joselu netted in both fixtures against the Blaugrana in La Liga last campaign and will look to repeat the feat to endear himself further to the Madrid faithful.
