Here’s The Face Vicario Pulled That Got Callum Wilson Upset

Tottenham Hotspur F.C. has been through a rough patch lately. They had failed to win a single Premier League match since October 28 going into the match against Newcastle United on Sunday (10 December).

However, a brace from Richarlison in between Destiny Udogie’s first Premier League goal and Son Heung-Min‘s 85th-minute penalty ended Ange Postecoglou‘s five-game winless run with a big 4-1 win. But the match ended on a rough note.

Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Newcastle United F.C. at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium helped them climb up to the 5th position in the league table. But the Tottenham goalkeeper got himself into a heated argument with Callum Wilson near the end of the match.

Callum Wilson came on as a second-half substitute as he marked his return after being out for more than a month with a hamstring injury. The forward got into a barb with Guglielmo Vicario as the Tottenham keeper saved his goal-bound header near the end of the game.

Vicario did not stay quiet after the save and was captured sticking his tongue out at the Newcastle striker. The forward immediately retaliated and confronted the goalkeeper. The two men got involved in some heated exchange before being pulled apart by Christian Romero.

The dispute didn’t end there. Wilson took offence to the Italian’s gesture and faced him again at the end of the game to make his feelings known. It forced other players to step in and separate the pair.

In the post-match interview with Sky Sports News, Wilson took hits at the ex-Empoli goalkeeper. “There’s a way to win, isn’t there?” Wilson told Sky Sports. “I think we’ve seen it in the week when Everton were winning and Pickford was messing around”. This was in reference to a similar incident involving Jordan Pickford‘s banter in Newcastle’s 3-0 midweek loss to the Toffees.

“The goalkeeper [Vicario], for the header, he starts pulling faces and messing around. It’s just a lack of respect I thought, but I’ve said my piece. We’re grown men and we move on.” confessed the ex-Bournemouth forward.

Apparently, Vicario hadn’t quite moved on. He took to Instagram to imply that the English international had also failed to show him respect during the contest.

He shared an image of their on-field exchange coupled with the headline from Wilson’s Sky Sports interview. He shared the story on his social media with the caption: “Respect is given… to everyone that respects me!”

People have also taken to social media to voice their opinion. Interestingly, people have come forward to support the Tottenham Keeper.

Tottenham Hotspur takes on Nottingham Forest this week. Ange Postecoglou is eager to maintain a streak of good performances and move up to the top four as soon as possible.

For that to happen, he would hope that his keeper can maintain his complete focus on the game and not engage in any silly online banter.
