Years ago, Mason Greenwood was destined to be one of the best footballers in the world. A product of Manchester United’s youth system, Greenwood arrived at the team and quickly became one of the most important players in the squad, and most of the time he played, he always responded with plays, assists, or goals. In his first full season with Manchester United, he scored 19 goals and provided 4 assists in all competitions, which was a huge success for a young player in his position.
But his football career would take a 180-degree turn when, in 2022, Greenwood was accused of assault by his then-girlfriend via social media. Following this, Greenwood would be suspended by Manchester United and immediately arrested by police on suspicion of assault and rape. Following this, many of his sponsorships would end, and EA Sports would even remove the Englishman from its games. This would continue until 2023, when the charges against Greenwood would be dropped due to the emergence of new material that “saves” him.
That same year, Greenwood moved to Getafe, where he didn’t do too badly despite his time away from the club. Of course, he had a few problems there, but nothing out of the ordinary. Many considered Greenwood to be one of the team’s best players. In 2024, he moved to France to play for Olympique de Marseille, where he would join for €31.6 million. In Marseille, he would practically become his team’s star. He scored two goals in his debut and assisted two more in the same match. He would finish the season with 21 goals and 6 assists in the league, leading Olympique de Marseille to second place.
Since last year, Greenwood has been trying to play for Jamaica since he is of Jamaican descent, and this year his application to play for the country was approved.
And this is because his mother, Melanie Hamilton, is of Jamaican descent, which allows Mason Greenwood to play with the Jamaican national team. It is not known exactly whether she was born in Jamaica or England, but it is absolutely certain that she is of Jamaican descent. On the other hand, his father, Andrew Greenwood, is originally from England.
Many claim that Greenwood’s arrival in Jamaica is a good thing for him as it would get him further away from the problems he has in England and that his arrival will be a very good thing for the Jamaican national team.

Others believe that in England he would likely have been relegated to the bench in the national team, while with Jamaica he will be a regular and respected player.
And there are also those who support and wish Greenwood the best for working on it and for leaving the problems behind.
But on the other hand, there are still those who continue to accuse him of his crimes and believe he deserves to go to prison.
