Romeo Lavia and 2 More Chelsea Players Use IG Location to Roast Spurs After 1-0 Win

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have long had a history of fiery matches against each other in the Premier League. One of the memorable and famous matches was ‘The Battle of the Bridge’ back in 2016. The latest encounter between the two London rivals was no different.

Spurs hosted Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, with both clubs coming into this match with differing fortunes and results from their previous cup games.

Chelsea came at the back of a 4-3 victory against Wolves in the EFL (Carabao) Cup. On the other hand, the Spurs boss Thomas Frank was under pressure as his side were knocked out from the same competition by the holders Newcastle United.

Chelsea got the better of their rivals in this game as Joao Pedro scored the lone goal in the 34th minute of the game, and could have scored a second in stoppage time, only to be denied by Spurs’ Italian Keeper Vicario, which would give Enzo Maresca’s side a valuable win, which would take them level on points with their opponents, up to 5th in the table, just a two-goal difference separating them from Tottenham, who are 4th.

The Blues were clearly the better side offensively, and they could have won by more goals if only they had converted their shots on goal more often. Tottenham’s difficult season continued as they could not get a vital victory over their London rivals.

Incidentally, Thomas Frank was appointed as the Spurs manager in the summer, after Ange Postecoglou was sacked owing to a poor finish in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season, even after lifting the Europa League title with Spurs, their first trophy since 2008.

After the defeat, the pressure just starts to mount a little bit on the Spurs boss Thomas Frank, after the Spurs faced back-to-back defeats in two different competitions, after getting knocked out of the EFL (Carabao) Cup by Newcastle United in the last mid-week.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have had a long-standing rivalry on and off the pitch. It is fair to say that the two London rivals don’t really fancy each other, whether it be the players on the pitch or the fans of the two clubs off the pitch.

After the victory, the fans, being fans with their banter, but the Chelsea players as well, took to social media, especially Instagram, to mock the Spurs players and rub salt into their wounds.

Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia was quite vocal in his mockery after the win on Instagram, hinting at how the Blues have got the upper hand against Spurs, and also rubbing salt into the wounds of the Spurs fans who left the Spurs stadium after the match, reminding them of Moises Caicedo‘s relentless pressing in the game.

Lavia couldn’t stop mocking the Lilywhites as he used Instagram’s location option to call the Spurs stadium a ‘training ground’, after the Blues dominated them at their own patch.

CFC defender Malo Gusto commented on how the Blues almost always seem to get the better of Tottenham, and sarcastically called the Tottenham stadium ‘home sweet home’ on Instagram location.

Wesley Fofana made a mockery of Spurs via his Instagram story, amusingly posting ‘somewhere in London’ implying that the Spurs stadium does not exist.

It was not just the current Chelsea players who created a mockery of Spurs after their victory. Former Chelsea captain and legend John Terry and ex player Marcos Alonso also joined the bandwagon –
