Watch – Man City Winger Savinho Loses Cool After Linesman Blocks His Run During UCL Clash

Champions League, Manchester City, Savinho

Manchester City faced Borussia Dortmund on matchday 4 of the Champions League, league phase. City came out as comfortable winners by 4-1. However, Savinho, City’s Brazilian winger, became an instant highlight for the fans on social media after the game.

The Brazilian got his first start for City in last night’s game after 3 matches; his last start for City was the loss against Aston Villa in the Premier League on 26th October, where the Brazilian did not quite have the best of the games. Even though he did not score for City in last night’s game, he did put in a strong performance.

However, it was not Savinho’s performance which caught the eye of the fans. It was something else which transpired on the pitch involving the Brazilian. The moment occurred in the 78th minute of the game, when Savinho down City’s right-wing, tried to dribble his way past Dortmund’s centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck.

As Savinho was dribbling, he went very close to the touchline while in his run, when the referee’s linesman came in his way unintentionally, which, in a way, stopped Savinho in his tracks.

This enraged the young winger, and he tried to push away the linesman and then threw punches in the air in anger against him.

The reaction by Savinho got him a yellow card from the referee. Incidentally, this is only the second yellow card of this season for the Brazilian, being the first in this season’s Champions League.

Fans have instantly reacted to the incident on social media, with many finding it amusing.

This fan thinks the referee could not have done much and that he was just doing his job, and that Savinho’s reaction did deserve him a yellow card.

While this fan has his fair say on whether the Brazilian actually deserves only a yellow card for the incident, or should have been sent off.
