Marcus Rashford’s career has always moved between extremes: explosive promise, crushing scrutiny, dramatic dips, and sudden reminders of the player Manchester United once believed could become their next great homegrown superstar.
From the teenager who burst onto the scene at Old Trafford in 2016, scoring on his senior debut and quickly becoming an England international, to the forward who carried United through difficult periods, Rashford has lived much of his adult life under a microscope. Lucia Loi is not a new name in Rashford’s world. Their relationship has grown alongside his career, widely reported to have known each other since their years at Mersey School, Manchester.
Lucia was with Rashford from his school days through to his debut for Manchester United in February 2016. During COVID-19, they parted ways in 2021, later reconciling in 2022
In May of 2022, Rashford proposed to Lucia with a ring reportedly worth $250,000.
However, the pair ended their engagement in June of 2023. Soon after splitting, Rashford was spotted with his personal trainer Courtney Caldwell in Miami in 2023.
Reports surfaced suggesting that Lucia Loi had broken off the engagement due to Marcus Rashford’s alleged romantic involvement with Courtney (Robertson, 2026).
Rashford and Lucia Loi were again spotted together in 2025 in Manchester, with several media outlets reporting they had gotten back together.
These rumours were confirmed when Lucia was seen attending Rashford’s presentation for Barcelona.
Lucia was also present at Barcelona’s title celebration, as pictured on Rashford’s instagram.
Fans connected this to another theory, mentioning that Lucia is the reason for Rashford’s form.
This theory dates back to his United days. Supporters remember some of Rashford’s most confident spells as coming when his personal life appeared settled, and they are now linking his fresh start in Spain with the return of a familiar presence.
Whether coincidence or comfort, Lucia’s reappearance fits Rashford’s rise in form.
His career has always been about more than goals, it has been about pressure, purpose, public service, criticism and resilience.
In Barcelona, Rashford’s latest chapter feels like both a football reset and a personal return.
