Barcelona’s No.10 and teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal, has already had a distinct list of celebrations. Starting from the Neymar pose recreations, sitting on the advertising boards in front of the fans like Ronaldo and the crowning celebration, Yamal produces one after the other.
The latest entrant in his list of celebrations came in during the league game against Villarreal.
Barcelona gained a composed win, thanks to goals from Raphinha and Yamal. But a sent off for Renato Veiga following a foul on Yamal, turned out significant as the home crowd considered Lamine Yamal instrumental due to his reaction which made it easy for the referee to give a straight red to Veiga.
From that moment, Villarreal’s crowd were whistling every time Yamal touched the ball, loud and hostile, to make him feel uneasy. Instead, Lamine Yamal scored a goal and gestured a whistling celebration towards the home end, which was considered to be a wordless reply to his haters.
As the buzz around the celebration swirled, a new theory suggests that it was not a reply to the crowd but rather a celebration Yamal got inspired from an anime character.
The original celebration is of the character Kidou Yuuto from the famous manga series “Inazuma Eleven”, where he uses the whistle to activate his signature Emperor Penguin special moves.
Lamine Yamal is a fond admirer of the anime culture and even has a “Super Saiyan” toy at his home, which he recently revealed in his home tour on Youtube.
He even dyed his hair in gold to feature like Goku from the “Dragon Ball” series.
He had even changed his profile photo on Instagram as the Super Saiyan character once.
While the controversies have come along frequently in his career, Yamal seems less cared about that and continues enjoying what he does. His new venture as an YouTuber might let us know more about him and his love for anime in the coming future.
