On August 31, 2026, Liverpool has unveiled Bradley Barcola as their new signing on their official social media accounts with the viral football edit song “Pangor (Swalalala)” by Djaksparo.

Rather than using a generic cinematic score, Liverpool used the same audio that fans had been pairing with Barcola highlights, extending the online trend to the club’s official announcement.

Barcola joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain for £123 million, including a guaranteed £106 million fee and £17 million in potential performance-based add-ons. The 23-year-old joined Liverpool on a five-year contract until June 2031, becoming the club’s second-most expensive signing in history.

He comes to Anfield after winning back-to-back Champions League titles and three consecutive Ligue 1 titles with PSG. Barcola, who plays as a left winger, is known for his acceleration, speed, dribbling, and ability to beat defenders one-on-one. He is expected to play alongside Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz in Liverpool’s expensively assembled attack.

Djaksparo’s song “Pangor (Swalalala)” was released on April 23, 2026, via Universal Music Distribution, and lasts approximately two minutes. 

The track, written by Bakemadou Gassama Diaby and produced by French producer SRY, blends French rap and Afro-trap, with heavy trap percussion, West African-inspired rhythms, and a repetitive central hook that lends it a fast, energetic feel appropriate for a short-form video.

Djaksparo, an emerging French-Ivorian urban artist, heavily promoted the song prior to its release via social-media snippets, dance videos, and challenges, which helped the audio gain traction on TikTok.

“Pangor (Swalalala)” became his breakout hit, contributing to a Spotify audience of nearly one million monthly listeners, while the song itself has received over 15.5 million Spotify streams and hundreds of thousands of Shazam tags. He later released “IN’A (Swalalala 2)” in 2026.

Barcola’s highlight reels and “Pangor (Swalalala)” became acquainted through social media in early 2026. Following the track’s release in April by Djaksparo, French football creators began using its distinct rhythm and “Swalalala” section over clips of Barcola’s explosive runs, stepovers, and changes of direction.

His performances in PSG’s Champions League knockout campaign provided ample material for edits, and the trend quickly spread beyond French football fans. By the summer, Barcola compilations featuring the track were widely shared on football video edits across social media, with the audio becoming especially associated with his speed and dribbling.

The song became even more popular as speculation about Barcola’s move to Liverpool heated up in August. Fans used “Pangor” in transfer edits, welcome videos, and clips picturing him in a Liverpool shirt, transforming it into an unofficial soundtrack for the move before it was completed.

When Liverpool finally confirmed the signing, they used the same track in the official announcement video, effectively linking the club’s announcement to the fan-created trend.

The decision to sign Barcola was also significant because Liverpool was looking for a response to their slow start under manager Andoni Iraola. They began the 2026/27 Premier League season with a 2-2 draw away to Newcastle United on August 23, followed by another 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at Anfield on August 29. Those results left Liverpool with two points from two games, placing them 13th in the early standings.

While the attack had scored four goals, conceding twice in both games prevented the team from winning. Barcola’s arrival provides Iraola with another pace-driven attacking option as Liverpool looks to turn those draws into wins.

Barcola has also expressed enthusiasm about playing at Anfield, recalling that he had previously visited the stadium twice and experienced its atmosphere.
