4 Rumored Girlfriends of Son Heung-min That We Know Of

Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min normally comes as a dedicated single footballer whose only major focus in life is succeeding in the beautiful game. However, he does have a rather interesting dating history.

Son Heung-min definitely doesn’t have a wife but there have been murmurs of Spurs man having his fair share of girlfriends throughout his career. Let’s take a look at all the rumored Girlfriends of Son Heung-min so far.

Son’s fame really started soaring in South Korea after he joined Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in 2013, scoring 10 goals in his first league campaign with them and proving his ability to thrive at a major European League.

With his growing popularity came interest from popular Korean celebrities too.

Minah

In around July 2014, the South Korean media started running stories that Son was dating K-pop star Bang Min-ah (better known as Minah) – who was then a part of the Girl Pop Group ‘Girls Day’.

Minah would go onto also release a solo album in 2019 (which peaked at no.2 in the Korean charts) and act in TV shows in her career, but she was just a singer when she started seeing Son.

The then-Bayer Leverkusen forward was pictured hanging around with Bang in popular places in Seoul like Han River Park and Gangnam Station and had reportedly held a ‘special event’ in July 2014 for her in which he surprised her with a bouquet of flowers.

However, as the media attention rose on them, the two decided it would be best to distance themselves from each other.

Moreover, because of how notoriously fanatic K-pop fans can be, the two opted to go their separate ways as the agency of Girls Day Dream T Entertainment noted in a statement: “During the time of the dating rumors, they were just starting to have good feelings for each other, but due to the sudden outpour of attention and busy schedules, the two stopped contacting each other.. As his fan, I hope that he’ll continue showing great performances in games, while I focus on Girls′ Day and individual activities.”

Yoo So-young

Son would go on to join Bayer Leverkusen soon after for the 2014/15 season and focus on enjoying a prolific season with the club.

It turned out to be a brilliant campaign as he was signed by Tottenham Hotspur in 2015 and a new surge of popularity came around him, as he became the latest South Korean player to be playing in the Premier League.

Soon after joining Spurs, he took up another love interest in South Korean actress and K-pop singer Yoo So-young, who was five years older to him.

So-young was popular in her country for being part of the Girls K-pop group ‘After School’ and acting in South Korean TV shows like My Bittersweet Life, You’re Only Mine and High Society.

The two ended up being seen together in November 2015, despite trying their best to maintain a private life.

They had to mostly maintain a long-distance relationship because of Son’s duties at Spurs and So-young’s own career in South Korea, which is why the relationship didn’t work out to be long-term and they reportedly split in 2016.

So-Young later confirmed that she had dated the Spurs star, but admitted to not even knowing who he was when he started to charm her up.

She told the Jung Young Jin and Choi Wook’s Fiery Friday Night Show in 2018: “Yes (we dated).  I like watching soccer but I don’t know which player is who. This is the first time I’m revealing this but I didn’t know who he was at first.

“I asked what he does and he said he’s a soccer player. I asked for his name and he told me. I replied, ‘I’m sorry. I only know about Ahn Jung Hwan’ (South Korea footballer). He seemed very startled. He asked me, ‘You don’t know me?’ My friend spoke up for me and explained that I really don’t know who he is. I was having a meal with my peers and I got to meet him while I was with them. We didn’t meet at a club.”

Vera Van Monika

Since the relationship with So-Young, Son has kept mostly a low-profile when it comes to his personal life and focused on his objectives in football.

However, recently, some outlets started to speculate that he actually might be dating Portuguese influencer and journalist Vera Van Monika.

Van Monika has gained popularity for her modelling gigs in 2011, she was in second place in the World’s Most Voted Models poll by Fashion TV. She is known for contributing towards fashion articles for many websites and also contribute as a Sports Writer for Argentina’s RR Magazine.

Moreover, some fans were draw more into this speculation after Van Monika posted a picture on her Instagram last year modelling for Son’s NOS7 (Nothing Ordinary Sunday) brand. She wrote: “Style game with NOS7 @nos7_official , brand of Son Heung Min @hm_son7 , the charismatic captain of South Korea @thekfa national football team, and player of the Premier League.”

Moon Ga-young

On top of that, there were also some surprising rumours that started being sparked up among the South Korean circle hinting that Son was in a relationship with South Korean actress Moon ga-Young – who has acted in shows like True Beauty and The Interest Of Love.

A user on Twitter named KKvnol reportedly made a claim that the two were planning on getting married and were discussing with a wedding planner, causing a lot of stir among fans.

Despite being 31 and having a number of rumored relationships, Son isn’t that focused on settling into a ‘family life’ and getting married anytime soon because of his ambitions in football.

When it comes to marrying, Son is in line with his father advising him to keep from marrying before he retires from football as he told The Guardian: “My father says this and I agree, as well. When you marry, the number one will be family, wife and kids, and then football. I want to make sure that while I play at the top level, football can be number one. You don’t know how long you can play at the top level. When you retire, or when you are 33 or 34, you can still have a long life with your family.”

It’s clear that Son is more than happy to still be unmarried and lead a single life, as his priorities lay in leading Tottenham Hotspur to break their trophy drought and excel as their club captain.
