Next Robertson: Liverpool Beat Barca, Real for Georgian Prodigy

Liverpool

Liverpool have made only one major signing, Federico Chiesa, and have been relatively quiet during the last two transfer windows.

However, that is set to change at the end of this season.

With the Reds favored to win silverware, they are likely to attract some big names and reinforce key areas in their squad.

For FSG, the expiring contracts of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold aren’t their only concerns.

Liverpool have long struggled with defensive stability, particularly in the full-back positions.

While Andy Robertson was once among the world’s best, age and injuries have taken a toll.

As a result, the club has already begun planning for the future.

Back in November 2024, Liverpool had already initiated talks with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Newcastle’s Lewis Hall has also been linked with the Merseyside club.

According to Anfield Watch, the Reds have now set their sights on Georgian wonderkid Saba Kharebashvili from Dinamo Tbilisi, and are ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid in signing him.

The young left-back has shown world-class potential, becoming the youngest player to debut in a UEFA competition at just 15, and has already become a regular for the Georgian club.

However, the Reds have a slight advantage as they recently signed goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia who was an academy graduate from Dinamo Tbilisi.

But signing Kharebashvili is easier said than done as per FIFA’s regulation, he will only be able to join the Reds in 2026 when he turns 18.

Perhaps, similar to Mamardashvili, Liverpool could strike a deal for the youngster early, securing his future before his value skyrockets.
