Ronaldo, who is already the top scorer in world football with over 950 goals for club and country, produced another splendid performance this weekend. He scored a brace and helped Al Nassr continue their perfect start with their 7th consecutive victory.

After his exploits, he sat down with Piers Morgan for an interview, and as expected, this resulted in quotes that gave us the usual FT meltdown and a bunch of memes.

At one point, Ronaldo gave his opinion on the Messi-Ronaldo debate, stating that he doesn’t want to be humble and he doesn’t think Messi is better than him.

The full episode is set to come out on November 4th. To build hype and anticipation, Ronaldo released a 48-second teaser on his X account with snippets of the episode.

In the clip, Piers Morgan tells him, “You became a billionaire last week…”

To which Ronaldo responded, “It’s not true, so many years ago…”

The question was in response to last month’s reports stating that Cristiano Ronaldo had become the world’s first billionaire footballer.

A report from Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimated Ronaldo’s net worth to be around $1.4 billion (£1.04bn), giving him a billionaire status.

It is interesting to note that the internet only got the info about his billionaire status this year, even though Ronaldo claims he has been one for a while. It can be speculated that the reason could possibly be that the Bloomberg Billionaires Index wanted to have sufficient data to be sure about Ronaldo’s billionaire status before deeming him one.

Judging a footballer’s net worth, especially one as big as Ronaldo, is complex. A lot of footballers’ bonuses, endorsement deals, sports contracts, and business ventures are confidential, while other assets and investments aren’t publicly disclosed, which could have been a stumbling block.

However, Ronaldo’s recent contract extension with Al Nassr (worth more than £492 million over 2 years) seems to have pushed him over the threshold, giving Bloomberg the go-ahead.

Bloomberg has a special methodology through which it evaluates the net worth of billionaires, offering the most transparent and detailed analysis of how the fortune was tallied. It calculates the net worth of sportsmen and celebrities by relying on a mix of market value, assets, salary, endorsements, business interests, club shares, brand deals, etc. The values must be verified whereas his investments/businesses are valued before being aggregated for an estimated total.

Bloomberg has stated that they only include someone once their estimated net worth crosses a certain threshold or once the data confidence is adequate. They noted that this is the first time Ronaldo’s fortune has been included in their index.

Through that, we can theorize that while Ronaldo had been a billionaire for years, this was the first year where the Bloomberg Billionaire Index knew for sure that Ronaldo had eclipsed the billion-dollar mark, as they now have sufficient data to include him.

Ronaldo, who terminated his contract with Manchester United after a public falling out with Ten Hag after a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan, joined Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in 2022. His initial deal was believed to be worth around £200m per season, excluding the bonuses and brand deals.

In June 2025, Ronaldo signed a contract extension with the club, earning him around £492 million over two seasons.

He also reportedly earns hundreds of millions ($175m per year) through his various businesses, endorsements and sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike, Binance, Herbalife, Tag Heuer, and more. He also has his personal brand, CR7, which further boosts his net worth.

Ronaldo has never been shy about flaunting his wealth. Recently, he was seen gifting his son Cristian Junior a Lamborghini Urus S, pairing it with a special number plate that just reads “A”, believed to cost millions.
