Paul Pogba Roasts IShowSpeed With ‘Real Ronaldo’ Jab During World Cup Meetup

After almost three years inactive as a player due to doping ban and several physical problems, Paul Pogba signed for AS Monaco last summer, but has struggled for fitness massively last season, playing only 115 minutes in six matches combined.

This meant he surely did not have any chance of making it to the France squad filled with talents. 

However, being one of the game’s most recognizable faces, Pogba is in the United States at the moment, as an ambassador for the equipment manufacturer Adidas and has been spotted participating in several events related to the World Cup set up in Los Angeles.

Eight years after lifting the World Cup with Les Blues, the charismatic midfielder this time will be cheering for his mates from the sidelines and hopes to catch up with the team without disrupting their preparation.

But before that, the 33-year-old marked his presence in the mega tournament at MetLife Stadium during the Brazil vs Mexico match and it is where he came across Ishowspeed, an American online streamer in the stands. 

Ishowspeed has built his identity around football, has been attending 2026 World Cup matches as part of a creator-led push around the tournament, turning stadium visits and meetings with football icons into live content for his audience but Pogba wasted little time in taking a dig at him.

While Ishowspeed was all pumped up seeing Pogba exchanging handshakes and hugs with him, the World champion footballer did not resonate the feeling, instead he teased the streamer for being more of an outsider invading footballing world and said, “What are you doing here? This is my sport, Speed… yours is American football!”.

In fact, Pogba looked more excited to meet Luva, a Brazilian influencer sitting beside Speed, ultimately leading Ishowspeed to claim, “He was not that excited to see me.” 

If that was not enough, the goading continued from Pogba’s side as the duo caught up later inside the vip lounge area where the French star had one over the American streamer yet again.

Ishowspeed, a known Cristiano Ronaldo fan was on his way to meet Brazilian Ronaldo in his suite. Pogba, knowing Speed’s Cristiano Ronaldo fandom, teased him by claiming he was going to meet the ‘REAL Ronaldo’, a term often used by the people disliking Cristiano, not to emphasize R9’s greatness but rather to undermine CR7’s stardom, and visibly left Speed in shock.

However, all of this can be deemed nothing more than playful banter as the two are well known to each other and have previously linked up in viral football content, including moments where Pogba brought Speed into his circle and even connected him with Zlatan Ibrahimovic during a light-hearted call. 

Coming to pure footballing terms, Pogba while now visiting the World cup more as a fan, would he hoping to regain his full fitness in the coming season, to ultimately relive what he calls his dream of representing France football team once again in the near future and is determined to find his rhythm soon.
