Rasmus Hojlund Gets Payback For Harry Maguire’s Old Wine Glass Remark

Harry Maguire, Manchester United, Napoli FC, Rasmus Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund had a far from desirable Manchester United stint, failing to replicate his Atalanta form that convinced the Red Devils to dish out a £72m transfer fee back in 2023.

He only scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for United and was subsequently moved out on loan to Napoli which saw him rediscover his mojo, scoring 17 times and providing six assists across 44 games in all competitions.

His move back to Italy was made permanent recently, triggered by Napoli confirming their Champions League qualification for the 26/27 season and an impressive loan spell that saw him help the Gli Azzurri finish as runners-up in the Serie A and clinching Supercoppa Italiana.

While Hojlund‘s three years association with Manchester United might have come to an end last week, his friendships with United players certainly seem to have not, as only recently the Danish forward made a witty comment on Harry Maguire’s social media post.

Maguire, who was enjoying his holidays in Barbados after being left out of England’s World Cup squad by Thomas Tuchel, recently posted a cluster of photos and videos on his Instagram.

In one of those pictures, the big Man United defender was seen sitting in a restaurant with his wife Fern Hawkins beside and a few drinks on the table in front of him.

was quick to take note of those glasses on the table and warned, ‘Better be Sprite in that glass Big H’.

Many felt that was a comeback from Hojlund two years in the making.

Back in July, 2024, Hojlund made a similar sort of a social media post, featuring him eating, read, tearing apart a steak and having a glass of wine in front of him, while enjoying his holidays.

Maguire sneaked into that picture’s comment box and took a subtle dig at Hojlund wrote, ‘I hope that’s blackcurrant in that glass.’

The Hojlund comment on Maguire’s recent post seems to be a revenge of that comment and it further shows their friendship highlighted by these light hearted digs.

Coming to the footballing front, Hojlund, featured in both of Denmark’s friendlies against DR Congo and Ukraine but he would now look to rest and rejuvenate himself before the club season resumes, much like Maguire, as his national side Denmark failed to secure World Cup qualification.
