Plettenberg claimed that Romano had crossed a line and clarified that Sky Germany never reported a formal written “bid,” but rather City’s willingness to pay the fee before the player chose Real Madrid. One day after the DFB had already named him in its official statement, you posted a “here we go”. Posting a signing soon and it’s almost one week later. I honestly thought you’d have the decency not to do that.

Anyone could have posted that Klopp HWG because it was obvious he was going to become Germany’s head coach. Your report was based on probability, not on actual agreements.

As long as you keep deleting false “here we go’s” and posting results minutes before the final whistle just because of algorithms and the need to be first in the race against 433 and score apps, only to delete them five minutes later because Neymar scores, you should probably keep a lower sound overall. The same applies when you fail to credit the original source in a large share of your Instagram posts.

Romano, visibly irritated by the public outrage, retaliated by using their once-friendly history to inject personal drama into the timeline.

He mocked Plettenberg for finally figuring out how to tag him and threatened to leak the private direct messages from a few years back.

Plettenberg immediately responded to Romano’s DM-leak threat, calling it a “sad development” and stating that, unlike Romano, he keeps private conversations confidential.

Me neither. But don’t portray it as if we reported that Manchester City were ready to bid. We reported that they were willing to pay that amount. There was never a formal written offer because the player was focused on Real Madrid and PSG. There’s no need to invent details to make it look as though we reported something incorrectly.

You’ll also know that Real Madrid’s €100m offer was made several days ago and not just within the last 48 hours, right?
