Google and FC Bayern Munich have announced a long-term commercial partnership that will begin with the 2026/27 season, with Google Gemini serving as the club’s official Consumer AI Partner and Google Pixel as the official Smartphone Partner for both the men’s and women’s teams.

According to German media outlets like BILD, this long-term agreement is worth more than €10 million per year and is structured through 2029 to match a multi-year template similar to Google’s deal with Paris Saint-Germain, officially positioning the tech giant as a Platinum Partner.

This puts Google one tier below the club’s four primary Main Partners and shareholders—Telekom (shirt), Adidas (kit), Allianz (stadium), and Audi (vehicles), who pay €30M to €65M+ per year for front-of-shirt placement, stadium naming rights, and massive global TV exposure.

Rather than a simple logo placement, this second-highest commercial tier includes twelve other prestigious brands organized in a directory grid: Betano, Bitpanda, Coca-Cola, Drutex, EA Sports FC, Einhell, Emirates, Paulaner, SAP, Schwarz Digits, Viessmann, and Volksbank Raiffeisenbank.

This comprehensive setup drops sequentially into three lower sponsorship classes representing smaller financial commitments: Gold Partners (€2M-€5M) like Celonis, Hylo, and Nexen Tire who receive solid stadium presence on second-tier boards; Official Partners (€1M-€2M) like Miele, Breitling, Milka, Adyen, and MAN handling localized marketing; and Regional Partners (Under €1M) like Doppelherz that build hyper-targeted footprints in restricted overseas markets like Asia and North America.

This is because German football is governed by the strict 50+1 rule, which prohibits external billionaires from acquiring majority control of a club, commercial partnerships are Bayern’s primary source of financial growth, providing the critical financial fuel to offset hefty wage bills and fund world-class player transfers against state-backed teams such as Manchester City and PSG.

Furthermore, these Platinum partners are tightly integrated into Bayern’s infrastructure, combining domestic stability from regional mainstays with international marketing reach thru global iconic brands. Google integrates Gemini AI into the club’s digital apps for real-time match insights, while SAP manages administrative software and player performance data analytics. Schwarz Digits secures sensitive digital assets with German-regulated cloud computing infrastructure.

The activation of Google’s deal features rising superstar Jamal Musiala as the primary advertising faces and brand ambassadors, but there are no device mandates, so players are not contractually obligated to turn their personal phones off-camera.

In addition to Gemini’s matchday integration, Google Pixel will power exclusive weekly behind-the-scenes content covering player arrivals at the Allianz Arena and training routines at Sabener Strasse, as well as regular “Pixel Drops” that provide free, customized app icons and wallpapers.
