Aurelien Tchouameni’s Response To Social Media Criticism Will Stick With You

Aurelien Tchouameni’s Response To Social Media Criticism Will Stick With You

Criticism of players in the football world has been rampant in the modern era of social media, which has enabled people from around the world to express their thoughts on players’ performance and general behaviour on and off the pitch.

As a result of which, these athletes have an added amount of pressure on themselves to perform and conduct themselves at the highest level.

Each player handles criticism in their own way and most of them stay away from immersing themselves too much in social media platforms.

In a recent interview with L’Equipe, Aurelien Tchouameni was asked how he handles social media criticism.

And the Real Madrid defensive midfielder couldn’t have answered the question more brilliantly.

In his response, he simply pointed out the harsh things people on the internet say about a legendary player like Cristiano Ronaldo.

He added that if a player of CR7’s calibre is not immune from receiving negative comments, then who is he to be spared?

“Criticism? When you see the sh*t people say about a legend like CR7 for example, then who am I to be safe from criticism”, Tchouameni told L’Equipe.

What he meant by his response is that no player is safe from being scrutinized and criticized.

Mentioning the criticism faced by Ronaldo was the perfect example he could’ve used in his answer, considering the number of negative comments CR7 receives every day even if he has not done anything wrong in particular.

The Frenchman’s clever answer also speaks to the strong mindset he has. It also provides an example of how players should deal with situations where they are put under close scrutiny.

In the same interview, Tchouameni also mentioned how his fellow French teammates Mbappe and Kimpembe tried to persuade him to join Paris Saint-Germain but he said his mind was already made up on where he wanted to end up.

Additionally, he said that playing for Real Madrid is his destiny and he’s here to win titles and earn his spot in the club.

The 22-year-old was on the radar of Real Madrid for a long time and they finally decided to sign him for a fee of 80 million Euros during the recent transfer window.

He didn’t take any time to get up to speed and is already playing an important role in Los Blancos’ midfield this season with stellar performances and has contributed 2 assists in the 12 games he has played in all competitions.

More importantly, the midfielder has also received the call-up to represent France in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
